Back in October 2016 - not long after he left office - David Cameron set up a wholly owned company called The Office of David Cameron Limited.
And for a while it generated large but not exceptional profits for an ex-PM: its accounts for the year ending 30 April 2019 showed its 'shareholders equity' had grown from £100 to £874,000.
Then, in April 2020, Cameron caused his company to change from a (normal) limited to an unlimited company. Unlimited companies are extremely unusual creatures - but they do have this feature - they don't have to publish their accounts.
I wonder why the switcheroo? Hard not to wonder whether it was connected with Cameron's share options in a then contemplated $6bn IPO of Greensill from which Cameron reported told friends he stood to make £60m. afr.com/street-talk/so…
If the options were granted to the company the switch from limited to unlimited company would mean we would never know how much he made... (thanks to @FollowingFX for the tip.)

The first lockdown ended in June. How can we still have needed PPE so urgently as to award a vast £100m+ PPE contract without any competition in July? Could it have something to do with close links to Number 10? bbc.com/news/uk-566679…
We at @GoodLawProject first told you about Pharmaceuticals Direct (for whom Samir Jassal signed the £100m contract) last month. Since then Zac Goldsmith has repeatedly sent highly hostile tweets about me...
There is no better evidence of your effectiveness as a campaigner than having one of the House magazines for the Conservative Party that masquerade as a newspaper run a hatchet job.
They don't actually care about your actions (as will be seen) but use, typically at the bidding of the Conservative Party, their pages to attempt to bully and cow. Today's is from the Mail on Sunday.
It advances two - hypocritical - allegations. First that (as is true) in defending our pet chickens I killed a fox.
This astounding revelation can hardly be news to the Mail's readership as they carried it on their front page (before I was cleared by my regulator and the RSPCA).
We @GypsyTravellerM know that media and politicians play a key role in the way GRT are treated in the society. A year ago @C4Dispatches aired a programme ‘Truth about Traveller Crime’ that many felt labelled Travellers as criminals. (Thread) theguardian.com/world/2020/may…
In early March 2021, a whistleblower revealed to @EHRC that @Pontins had kept a blacklist of Irish names in order to prevent Irish Travellers from booking holidays. They also monitored post codes of caravan sites and people’s accents. (TM) inews.co.uk/news/uk/pontin…
The new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill Govt is proposing will criminalise the nomadic way of life of Gypsies and Travellers & make hundreds of families homeless and at risk of ending up in prison. This is our and the GRTPA response to it: (TM) travellermovement.org.uk/news-news/162-…
