As you consider the closing arguments in the #DerekChauvinTrial...

... please consider this:

In 1995 -- 25 years prior to the death of George Floyd -- the US Dept of Justice warned law enforcement of the potential dangers of prone restraint

ojp.gov/pdffiles/posas…
this is NOT a poorly understood phenomenon

And... best practices are crystal clear

Note this line from report
The conclusion of 1995 remains the conclusion of today
If law enforcement officers aren't training on this...

...and training extensively on it...

...they will see, on rare occasions, people die right in front of them.

It's that horrible.... and that simple.

Been this simple for decades

We found more than 100 cases... similar to George Floyd's

Very few received little more than local news coverage.

Journalists...

Something you can do right away.

Ask your local law enforcement department/office what its policy is on "prone restraint"

Specifically, what the policy is once person is prone and handcuffed

US DOJ has recommended, since 1995, to do this: Image

So I hate to be the bringer of bad news...

But when a local politician declares “the pandemic is over”

does the politician understand the definition of the word “pandemic”???

I’ll help.

Note: pandemic involves bigger area than politician controls
So. Let’s see how the “pandemic” is doing in...Brazil.

Nope. Not over.
Or India.

Definitely not over.

THREAD (on poopy water... yes, I'm a child)

So now seems to be a good time, with cases creeping up, to remind folks the fact that wastewater...

yep... wastewater... continues to be tested.

Here's where you can find data:

It's a decent indicator of potential trouble spots...

So, where might those trouble spots potentially be?

Southern Fort Collins stands out right now

(Note... data is a bit old)
Part of Colorado Springs too
