Guys, seriously, be kind to your neurodivergent children. They need it. I started thinking a lot about my dad and his actions after the Autism and ADHD diagnosis. I'll explain why another day but I think his kind actions made me more comfortable with myself.
Like I don't mask very well. Which is uncomfortable for most of you by the way. But that's your problem - not mine. I'm sorry but I refuse to adapt to this overlit and extremely loud Earth plus change myself to accommodate your brain at my expense.
Side note though: Why is everything overlit? Why do you need harsh white lights for just about everything? But I'm the rude one for showing up with dark glasses? Also, why do you need to look into my eyes during a conversation? Are you conversing with my soul or me? 😂😂😂
For those asking about my diagnosis - I only got it after I spent hundreds of thousands on tonnes of tests to confirm that I didn't have other underlying diseases that were causing the said symptoms. Including the one NHIF covered 15k/90k for 😒
Other people's experiences are different but know if you're healthy looking and have what's deemed "above average intelligence", you'll have to jump hoops to get one. "You're an engineer and you're doing well. Why do you need this?". Who told you I'm doing okay?

I don't think I appreciated the extent to which autism impacts my life. I left the house - only had a lengthy conversation with one person then headed to a supermarket (white lights) - Now I have a headache and have to rest 😭
Work from home helps so I don't have tonnes of headaches following me around my day but navigating the fact that talking to people makes me tired but I need to talk to people because I'm very extroverted, is an extremely strange balancing act.
It's reaction to stimuli. Like the brain wants peace and quiet but the world is a noisy place both visually and soundwise. I can notice slight differences in sound. Like today, there was a 3db difference between the back speakers and the front and my brain couldn't take it.
I see people liked that tweet 😂 Yeah, lots of you would probably hate my dad with your respect for authority mantras. He once came to school in high school, a teacher told him I'll get a D and have no hope in life. He turned around and asked "Ataleta kwako?"
A woman in the market told him we were wearing short stuff and trousers and it's wrong and he went "Mama M umeona nikikwambia vile utalea watoto wako mahali? Shughulika na M aache kupata 200 kwanza." 😂😂😂
Other parents were coming to beat their kids during disciplinary hearings. Mans walks in and hugs you kwanza and asks you if you are okay. Compassionate parenting works - that's what I learned from him.
My comment about the curfew. You'll find that a number of the "respect curfew hours" have the special pass. Because anyone who doesn't... And I mean anyone, knows how nerve wrecking it is when you think you're about to get late and can't do nothing about it.
Example last week: I'm at a friend's office trying to finish up some work with a 7:30 PM deadline. The reason I'm there is because KPLC lost my electricity in the morning and I'm unsure if elec is back at home. I make the choice to go home at 7 at the expense of my work.
Saturday morning the person meant to receive the work is livid but hey, I beat the curfew, right? This is why I think the only way you'd lack empathy for someone who didn't beat curfew is if you have a pass. Because every person who doesn't knows. We know.
Twitter people don't have as much ballot influence as we'd like. The people who have massive votes only have access to TV and radio. I would have said most of them are on Facebook and that might help - but we all know what happened with Facebook in the last election.
I think I did a thread on this a while ago. That Uhuru stands and says "the economy isn't closed". Tunakuja Twitter tunamuuliza kama anajua economy ni nini. Missing thr whole point of him saying that. Because we aren't the target of those statements.
His target is the people watching TV with no other medium. Or people in Facebook echo chambers like our parents. So when the media doesn't challenge his statements, these people have no way of finding out that he lied. Or that he deliberately misled them.
Me rewarding my mom with cash for getting vaccinated 😂 And I'll double the payout when she gets the second shot. This way, my dad has something he's *actually lost* by vehemently refusing to get vaccinated 😂😂😂
I mean, compared to the hospital deal, small small vaccine gift is nothing 😭
Anyone else's dad who's stuck to his guns? Mine asked me if I've ever seen him get sick 🙄 The answer is yes but he says it's no 😂 - we are now in a standoff
