There's always a lot of talk in GAA circles about losing out to other sports with the timing of finals etc and "winning the ❤& 🧠s" but they've split up the draws of their flagship championships over two days starting at 7.30am & 8.30am on Radio 1, and now on the 6.30pm RTE News
There was no live video on the official Gaa Twitter, Instagram or Facebook pages either. How do you win the battle for the 👀 of the younger generation who don't listen to Morning Ireland or watch 6One - which we know the majority of younger people don't.
Leitrim and Sligo didn't post on Twitter, Mayo are the only county to post on both Facebook and Twitter. Roscommon posted on Insta stories and Insta feed. Nothing from Leitrim at all.
Connacht Gaa themselves posted this morning on Twitter but nothing on Facebook and just shared posts by Sligo, Mayo and Roscommon in Insta stories.
No one shared the draw live as it took place - not RTÉ on their social, not the Gaa, not Connacht Gaa not the counties involved.
No surprise as this is the official Gaa Twitter feed of the MUNSTER championships. No images. No video. No crests even...
If you want to grab people's attention you HAVE to do it right. You have to be clever, you have to be proactive. The GAA are not doing that. It's up to the GAA themselves to work with the provincial councils and down to the counties to give them the assets to promote and make
the draw an event. What we've got today and no doubt again tomorrow has been unbelievably shoddy. You won't cut through social media without working at it and being smart. What we got over the last 48 hours is a slap in the face to our flagship competitions. END
This took five minutes to create btw when Bonniconlon were in the quarters draw last year. I had three crests ready to go.
