The jury in Derek Chauvin’s trial resumed deliberations at 8 a.m., following a marathon day of closing arguments in the former Minneapolis police officer’s murder case. mprnews.org/story/2021/04/… #ChauvinTrial
It’s not clear how fast the jury will reach a verdict. It could be anywhere from several hours, to days or even weeks. We've tried to answer some questions about how jury deliberations work here: mprnews.org/story/2021/04/…
Who are the people deciding Chauvin's fate? The jury is made up of 3 Black men, including 2 who are immigrants; 1 Black woman; 2 women who identify as multiracial; 2 white men; and 4 white women. Here's what we know about the 12 jurors. mprnews.org/story/2021/03/…
With a verdict looming, more than 3,000 National Guard soldiers, along with police officers, state police, sheriffs deputies and other law enforcement personnel have flooded the city in recent days. It leaves many wondering: How much is too much? mprnews.org/story/2021/04/…
Nationally, the looming verdict could be the first significant flashpoint over race and policing in Biden's presidency. He's expected to speak after the verdict, and may try to heal the soul of a divided nation. But he also appears caught in a double bind. mprnews.org/story/2021/04/…

The defense is expected to start making its case to jurors this week as testimony resumes in the #ChauvinTrial. mprnews.org/story/2021/04/…
In cross-examining prosecution witnesses the past two weeks, defense attorney Eric Nelson has posited that George Floyd’s underlying medical problems and the drugs in his system were responsible for his death. Prosecutors say Chauvin’s actions to subdue Floyd killed him.
The prosecution’s argument got a boost Friday when Hennepin County Medical Examiner Andrew Baker told jurors the actions by Chauvin and other officers to subdue Floyd as they arrested him tipped the man from life to death.

The Labor Department admitted that government household survey-takers mistakenly counted about 4.9 million temporarily laid-off people as employed. The government doesn't correct its survey results for fear of the appearance of political manipulation.
