CBS affiliate @WAFB has video showing a Port Allen, LA cop tase an elderly man, twice, who’s in the back of a cop car & HANDCUFFED. The man yells b/c he can’t get his leg in
b/c of a bad back. The cop is on unpaid leave. We’ll see if he’s fired & charged. wafb.com/2021/04/21/gra…
The police arrive at the man’s house and an officer immediately goes up to him and yells come out of here or I’m gonna light you up. The man tells the police he has a bad back but he gets up and complies. He’s actually being polite. They bring him to the police car.
They tell him to get in. He asked them to adjust the seat so he can get his legs in because of his bad back. They tell him they can’t. They try to help him get his legs in. He can’t. He’s clearly in pain.
This man is 67 years old. The same officer who went up to him yelling for him to come out of his own front porch, then tases the man for yelling “help”. After tasing him once the officer says yell again, and the man does, and he tases him again.
The officer then closes the door and the next thing you hear is an officer say, “that’s pretty much his window so there’s nothing we can do about that.” So what did they book him in jail for? “Disturbing the peace” because he yelled for help. They had NOTHING ELSE ON HIM.
If it wasn’t for police body cameras, I have a feeling we would never know the truth about what happened. That man would’ve gone to jail for disturbing the peace & would’ve told people for the rest of his life how the police wronged him. Some would’ve believed him. Other wouldn’t
To boot: the cop shuts the door & laughs.
The arrested man never resisted.
He said he had a bad back.
He was put in handcuffs w/out an reason, & only when the cop acknowledged he had nothing to charge the man with he booked him for disturbing the peace b/c the man...yelled HELP.
