"Many Democrats I’ve spoken with believe that renouncing virtually all in-person organizing and campaigning was especially damaging for Democrats among Latino voters," @RonBrownstein reports: bit.ly/3dJi66k
@RonBrownstein “Taking your army off the field as Democrats did” and thereby giving Republicans “complete control of the field—being at people’s doors … being in the bars, + being in the barrios—that was stupid on our part,” @BetoORourke told @RonBrownstein: bit.ly/3dJi66k
@RonBrownstein @BetoORourke "Roughly two in five Latino men, and one in three Latino women, say police killings of unarmed black men are isolated incidents, not part of a pattern—a view that’s common among Republicans but overwhelmingly rejected among Black people + white liberals." bit.ly/3dJi66k
@RonBrownstein @BetoORourke "In the exit polls, nearly half of Latino voters expressed an unfavorable opinion of Black Lives Matter, an even more negative balance than among white people, according to Edison’s results." bit.ly/3dJi66k
@RonBrownstein @BetoORourke More from @BetoORourke: "'Trump was able to seize on this false choice of: Do you want to be locked down and have to wear a face mask and not have a job, or have a job?' Trump’s message came through as 'Fuck the scientists … I’m for jobs.'” bit.ly/3dJi66k
Because Biden will benefit from incumbency and a reopened economy, "virtually every Democratic officeholder or operative I spoke with expects Biden to increase his share of the Latino vote if he runs again," @RonBrownstein reports: bit.ly/3dJi66k
@RonBrownstein Latinos "will be entering the electorate in huge numbers for the foreseeable future" + "constitute the largest potential source of growth for each party’s coalition." Read @RonBrownstein's definitive look at 2020 and the future of the Latino vote: bit.ly/3dJi66k

My headline suggestion, "@theatlantic Urges You to Read About the Postal Service Beyond Election Season," was for some reason rejected here: bit.ly/3n83Xmu
@TheAtlantic But actually this @russellberman story is really interesting, and doubles as a parable about why you should never, ever believe what you are told in ALL CAPS fundraising emails: bit.ly/3n83Xmu
@TheAtlantic @russellberman It turns out that politics is really complicated and there are a lot of different interest groups pulling in different directions and lining up in surprising ways -- especially when billions of dollars and oodles of jobs are at stake! Who knew? bit.ly/3n83Xmu

Vigilante killings are the opposite of "law and order." bit.ly/32tIr1y
Seriously though, experts have long known how to prevent the kind of violence that happened in Kenosha on Tuesday night. It starts with law enforcement sending the militias home, rather than treating them as allies.
The state undermines its own monopoly on the use of violence when law enforcement officials allow armed civilians who share their politics to cosplay as auxiliaries. This sort of thing is extremely dangerous.

I want to talk a bit about this wild @jessicaschulb story about Bill O'Reilly, since you may have missed it Friday: huffpost.com/entry/bill-ore…
@jessicaschulb You have probably heard of O'Reilly, the former Fox host who paid at least six women around $45 million to settle harassment lawsuits. O'Reilly always presented himself as a righteous advocate for truth and common sense who was on his viewers' side.
@jessicaschulb Many Fox viewers still admire and trust O'Reilly. How's his reputation being used now? He's appearing in 1,000+ Facebook advertisements for a company that offers investment advice that is, at best, very bad.
