The parallels between Serbian ethnoreligious chauvinism during the final years of Yugoslavia under Slobodan Milosevic, and Arewa ethnoreligious chauvinism in this Nigerian era of Muhammadu Buhari are almost a 100% exact fit.

They even did more. It all still ended in hot tears.

Strongman leader from majority ethnicity boasting about Yugoslavia's indivisibility. ✅
Economic collapse, pseudo Marxist govt policy and unbacked money printing.✅
Expansionism by majority group marked by religious and ethnic genocides in places like Srebrenica.✅

Active bullying of political representatives of minority/secessionist groups in Yugoslavia's parliament.✅
Extreme nepotism and treatment of the Yugoslavian state and economy as the ancestral patrimony of ethnic Serbs with zero respect for every other constituent group✅

Brutal and sustained use of the military as a blunt force tool for keeping Yugoslavia together by shooting, burning and raping everything into silence.✅
Conversion of state security services and armed forces into Serbian ethnic militia✅

And much, much more.

Despite all this accumulation and swaggering misuse of power, Yugoslavia still collapsed and everybody left the Serbs to their own devices one after the other.

The sky did not fall down. Everybody moved on. Milosevic died in prison. Serbian supremacist is a hollow joke now.

So all the Usmans, Abubakars and Shehus rejoicing in my mentions because you think yesterday was some kind of a "win" for them should be advised to Google "Yugoslavia 1988-2001" to see what their future holds.

The Serbs once celebrated too.
