The parallels between Serbian ethnoreligious chauvinism during the final years of Yugoslavia under Slobodan Milosevic, and Arewa ethnoreligious chauvinism in this Nigerian era of Muhammadu Buhari are almost a 100% exact fit.
They even did more. It all still ended in hot tears.
Strongman leader from majority ethnicity boasting about Yugoslavia's indivisibility. ✅
Economic collapse, pseudo Marxist govt policy and unbacked money printing.✅
Expansionism by majority group marked by religious and ethnic genocides in places like Srebrenica.✅
Active bullying of political representatives of minority/secessionist groups in Yugoslavia's parliament.✅
Extreme nepotism and treatment of the Yugoslavian state and economy as the ancestral patrimony of ethnic Serbs with zero respect for every other constituent group✅
Brutal and sustained use of the military as a blunt force tool for keeping Yugoslavia together by shooting, burning and raping everything into silence.✅
Conversion of state security services and armed forces into Serbian ethnic militia✅
And much, much more.
Despite all this accumulation and swaggering misuse of power, Yugoslavia still collapsed and everybody left the Serbs to their own devices one after the other.
The sky did not fall down. Everybody moved on. Milosevic died in prison. Serbian supremacist is a hollow joke now.
So all the Usmans, Abubakars and Shehus rejoicing in my mentions because you think yesterday was some kind of a "win" for them should be advised to Google "Yugoslavia 1988-2001" to see what their future holds.
The Serbs once celebrated too.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
It's finally time to reveal why Nigeria being placed on this list.
There is a 310-page report on genocide in Nigeria's Middle Belt/North Central presented to Mike Pence in 2020, which I've sat on for the best part of a year. Now I will tweet a thread of excerpts from this report
2. They "debunk" it by responding "How can a "journalist" claim that 3+3 is 5?! False allegation!"
They avoid engaging what you said an instead invent a strawman to knock down. Very interesting.
I have read no fewer than 9 attempted "responses" to my rigorously-researched and fact-checked stories about @DrIsaPantami, and every single one of them made no mention whatsoever of anything in the stories.
They just completely sidestepped them and went off on a tangent.
Completely ignored: 1. Audiovisuals and text translations of Sheikh Pantami saying things that objectively align him with terrorists. 2. Evidence that he studied at the Islamic University of Medina (a global terror recruitment hotspot) under ultra-conservative Salafist clerics
And if you know you came to drag me on the TL to impress whoever you wanted to impress, for the love of whatever you believe in, don't bother sending me a DM now.
You came to slam dunk publicly. If you have something to say now, say it publicly. I'm not reading your stupid DM.
Came and sewed 10-page thread on my head, reported my account all the way from Germany, come dey send DM now after I turned out to be right (as usual) and I called you out.
You better maintain the same energy!
Sewed thread on my head and used the thread to sell his market talmbout "Pantami is a Liberal Salafist like the character in my book."
Now that it turns out you're full of shit, you're in my DMs speaking English. I muted your notification forever and left the convo.
Just a nice video of Nigeria's Minister of Communication and Digital Technology @DrIsaPantami having a friendly conversation with a nice chap you may have heard of.
Nice bloke called Mohammed Yusuf who founded Boko Haram.
In his prior iteration as a Salafist Islamic scholar, Mr Pantami was known for holding hardline Islamist positions that aligned very closely with those of Mr Yusuf and his Jamāʿat Ahl al-Sunnah li-l-Daʿawah wa al-Jihād, aka Boko Haram.
Watch from the 40 minute mark for a treat😬
