History of Iperu Remo.
Iperu or Iperu Akesan Baleoja is an Ijebu remo town in Ogun state,Iperu is a town near the Ibu river and it is the most populous town in Remo region of the Ikenne local government area. ImageImageImage
There are several assertions as to the founding of Iperu, from all the historical assertions of the originality of Iperu, one can determine the one which is accurate.
The first assertions is that Iperu is an off shore of Ijebu Ode. Some historians claims that
Remo traditional towns was the Makun,Ogere, Peru and Ode Remo have their genealogical attachment to Ijebu Ode.
The second assertions is that the founder of Iperu was a woman in the name of Akesan. Akesan was a woman traceable to have migrated from Oyo Alaafin.
The assertion also Indicated that Akesan was a daughter of one of the Alaafin of Oyo.
Akesan was married to Ajagbe, they left Oyo and wandered into the unknown untill they reached the present site of Iperu and settled down.
From all historical assertions of the origin of Iperu, the settlement of Akesan and Ajagbe from Alaafin is conceiveable the best of all assertions. Akesan and Ajagbe are names that occur in everyday talks in Iperu ever since its creation.
If you meet an Iperu man or woman outside Iperu and he/she is greeted with the term Akesan Baleoja, alarala ogbe de mi gbe de mu, he/ she will smiled broadly. From the oriki of Iperu,Iperu omo Akesan,Akesan Iya ofiran.
These showed the significance of Akesan in Iperu history.
There also many assertions about the name Iperu.
The first assertions, Akesan was said to have settled at the present Akesan market where she sold cooked maize. It was said that there was a palm tree
That had sunk close by where she sat to sell her wares, and there was a hole where the palm tree sank, meaning in Yorùbá "ibiti ope tii ru" the sentence was abbreviated to the word "Iperu".
The second school of thought about the name "Iperu" was that there
Alot of palm trees abound around the place where Akesan was selling cooked maize. The place where there were alot of palm trees or the place where palm trees blossomed meaning in Yorùbá "Ibi ti ope ru" the sentenced was shortened to "Iperu".
The third assertions about the name Iperu was that Iperu was an off shoot of Epe in Sagamu. Wow in Sagamu is not a quater but an independent town of itself,a group of individuals in Epe town moved out of Epe to develop another town. The name of the
Establishment of a company in a new environment is attached to the new location. From the town Epe, the name "Iperu" was coined. The Odu Ifa predicted that Iperu will be greater than Epe. The chances of Iperu being a chip off of Epe cannot be
Therefore excluded.
The fourth school of thought about the name Iperu,it is said that Akesan the founder of Iperu had an earthen pot with which she cooked maize. One day, the bottom part of the pot caved in due to old age, this in Yorùbá means "Ape ru"
Meaning "pot caved in" from the sentence "Ape ru" the name of "Iperu" came into existence.
I think the fourth assertions of the name "Iperu" is closer. one cannot verify the most genuine or the most original. One can only argue which one is closer to the
Actual meaning or name.

1)Iyamode: Iyamode is the only person in the world the Aláàfin is permitted to kneel down before. He kneels before no one else except Iyamode.
Iyamode occupies a role so highly deeply respected that the king call her 'Baba' (father).
Whenever the Aláàfin goes on his knees before this powerful woman, she returns the salutation by also going on her knees but never recline on her elbow while doing so as this is the custom of women in saluting their superiors. She is one of the most senior
