Police have arrested a suspect following the discovery of the body of teacher Naadira Vanker in a shallow grave south of JHB. Police are searching for a second suspect.
“Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela has commended a team of police officers who on Tues evening, 27 April 2021 arrested a 36-year-old man and discovered the body of a woman who was reportedly abducted in Lenasia South in a shallow grave at Phumlamqashi.
“It is reported that on Thursday 22 April 2021 at approximately 06h00, a 31-year-old woman was abducted from her home by two men. The suspects are alleged to have then driven off in the victim's vehicle that was later found abandoned in Ennerdale.
“The matter was reported to police and a detectives team was est, activating a search party in prioritising the case & search for the victim. On the evening of 27 April investigation led the team to a shack in Phumlamqashi, Lenasia South, where one of the suspects was found.
“Police search and rescue team as well as forensic experts were summoned and exhumed the body that was later identified by the family as that of abducted Naadira Vanker.
“A postmortem will be conducted to determine how the woman was killed.
Police are searching for the second suspect who is still at large.” @SAPoliceService
