Nebraska Senator Justin Wayne (D) calls out his colleagues' hypocrisy on supporting taxpayer dollars for families to use at private hospitals but not private schools.
"I'm going to bring an amendment to say that you cannot use Medicaid for private hospitals - that you can only go to a public hospital
But if you believe they should have a choice - then why is it different for kids in my neighborhood?"
Nebraska Senator Justin Wayne (D) tells his colleagues he'll vote against the school choice bill if they agree to send their own kids to public schools.
"The only people who are opposing school choice today are the same people who have choice.
And many of them exercise that choice."
"Here's my offer: I will vote to kill this bill if you send your kids to one of the schools in my district that we're waiting to turn around.
Don't make a choice that you won't allow anybody else to make just based off of income."
"Before, the scholarship program was open to families whose income did not exceed $77,250 for a family of four. Under the new requirements, families of four earning nearly $100,000 would qualify."
"The bill will also increase the value of vouchers, giving away hundreds of millions to families seeking scholarships, and could potentially create more than 60,000 new voucher opportunities."
