SOS: We at @internetfreedom @no2uid @smcproject @HEaL_Institute @IndJMedEthics are laying down clear facts about how and why vaccine discrimination is going to rise in India. If the government fulfils our demands, access to life-saving resources will increase. Please RT.
1. Some worrying facts:
a. State/private bodies have to get vaccines from manufacturers. The price is set/declared in advance.
b. There is no strict price regulation in pvt hospitals.
c. 18-45 y/os must be handled by States, and they have no option but to register on COWIN.

Why is this a problem? If you leave the pricing of vaccines to the free market, leave vaccination to States who are low on resources, and mandate online registration at a time when a large number of Indians CANNOT access it, people will be left out of the vaccination process.
2. Many hospitals, private suppliers and States are mandating Aadhaar for access to oxygen/medicines/beds. We have reports from Maharashtra, UP, Ahmedabad, etc. Many people don't have access to Aadhaar. So where will these vulnerable populations go?

3. People in power (like RS Sharma, CEO National Health Authority) indicated introducing new tech in the vaccination process. We strongly oppose this. India is the only country to test facial recognition during vaccination. The pandemic is not a time for harmful experimentation.
4. The NHA is rolling out "National Health IDs" as part of the vaccination drive, for people who register using Aadhaar. This is unethical and NOT backed by law. This program is being silently rolled out without informing the general public, and will have long-term consequences.
As @anivar warns, mandating COWIN with no clarity on how data will be used amounts to a “data tax” by GOI. COWIN includes a hidden consent collection method for health ID generation and is designed to permit sharing of health data + generation of Digilocker linked certificates.
OUR DEMANDS:
1. Walk-in access at community level, no barriers including Aadhaar for access
2. Ensure CoWin is not mandatory+no hidden consent collection/linking to Digilocker/Aarogya Setu.
3. Limited linkage of patient data to post-vaccine reporting
