So what is #vaccinehesitancy and how Indian media especially some renowned media platforms cannot escape their culpability in aiding it! Let us examine this issue is our easy to understand #Pulspective series!
Amongst established media platforms, @shekhargupta run @ThePrintIndia takes the cake with these two spectacularly “unscientific” and “baseless” stories bordering diatribe against India’s homegrown Covaxin.
And no, @the_hindu@qzindia and many others were not far behind and published all baseless statements with prominence, thereby fuelling doubts in the minds of common public against vaccines. #Pulspective#vaccinehesitancy
And Govt of India, through an elaborate plan, that was duly shared with all the states, tried to curb #vaccinehesitancy #Pulspective
Strengthening GOIs vaccination against COVID is the only way to fight the menace of this virus. We call every section of Indian media to work on improving their editorial policies such that misleading & incorrect reports, likely to aid #vaccinehesitancy are not published at all.

Following 2 narratives are prevalent- 1. The states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu are all warning of power cuts 2. Coal ministry has refuted fears and charges of blackout and power disruption due to coal shortage!
While there is a merit to some news about coal shortages but that is explainable : 1. monsoon cause production shortages 2. demand increases for power 3. increase in imported coal prices
All this has caused pressure on CoalIndia to meet rising demand
You might have read about coal shortage causing major problem for China and their economy; soon thereafter people started speculating about India facing similar problems with Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal resorting to what he knows best- lying through his teeth!
So what is reality?
If much touted coal shortage this year is a one off event or an annual phenomena?
Well, coal production falls during rainy season; this year it was more pronounced due to prolong monsoons!
The fall in coal production during monsoon months came in the backdrop of increase in demand for power due to economic recovery especial after 2nd wave of COVID when power consumption during past 2 months went up by 17% over 2019!
Large professional service firms including Big Four,Deloitte,PwC,EY & KPMG, have seen a 15-20% increase in hiring compared with pre-pandemic times. The Big Four along with other firms such as Grant Thornton, BDO, BCG & McKinsey have hired around 20,000 pros in last 6-8 months.
Top law firms have seen a 15-25% increase in hiring in the last 6-8 months, while the intake for the current year is expected to be even higher. economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/demand-fo…
Today’s #Pulspective is an attempt to see how Global media, as represented by @nytimes@Reuters@TheEconomist@guardian or for that matter @WaPo reported deaths in US and UK; do compare it to their reporting of Indian deaths.
Check how US media reported burial of NY victims of Covid19. Do notice how media talked about orderly & efficient burial process; it even tried to reason how burial footage wasn’t extraordinary! Some samples from @nytimes & @Reuters but @WaPo was no different either #Pulspective
#Pulspective : media in UK was no different either and they too never tried to sensationalise deaths nor carried any visuals of grieving relatives on the front pages of @guardian or @TheEconomist or primetime on @BBC!
