“Don’t go to the rodeo if you don’t like it” If your kids weren’t in classes with mine... if you’d weren’t coming to my place of business... if you weren’t shopping at the few essential places we need to shop at... then fine. But I’m given zero choice about attending the rodeo.
Your rodeo attendance (or church/restaurant/anti-lockdown rally) means I’ve also attended because that’s how Covid works. But do go on about how I should just let people have fun.
My parents are watching my youngest grow up through screens. Yesterday a lovely elderly woman came to my cafe and my toddler excitedly told me that grandma was here. Not her grandma... someone else’s grandma who probably hasn’t seen her grandkids much either.
I’m sick of being told to be kind. My kindness towards the people keeping us here disappeared a long time ago. I feel no kindness towards the Cory Morgans of the province telling people to suck their nuts if they don’t like what he’s doing. Kindness begets kindness. There’s none.
Kindness is still staying home while people are living their lives/spreading Covid. Kindness is wearing a mask. Kindness is empathy towards health care workers and teachers. Kindness is also empathy towards every business that’s struggled to stay afloat and pivoted.
I have all of the room in the world for kindness towards people who look at others as not expendable. Our province lost over 2000 people... my heart truly breaks for every one of those families because we didn’t collectively do enough.
