In December, Bihppas was in the worst fight I could imagine - blood spurting from his ears, writhing in pain. I’m positive he has trauma due to hands, and wouldn’t let anyone catch him for 20 minutes. It was terrifying for both of us.
(We got him cleaned up and gave away the other dog.)
In the Christmas holiday, I grew to resent Bihppas because he would put on brakes while we mushed. Like, push against the power of the sled and scream. It was infuriating and heart breaking, and I was so confused at where to begin with him, if I even could.
An unlikely classmate of mine fell in love with him and worked with him day in and day out to warm him up to humans, sudden movement, and “crazy dogs.” He lives with such a kind, calming dog who has done wonders for him.
And today, Bihppas did this!
One itty bitty kiss! He doesn’t like my phone when I film “down” on him, but I also scratched behind his ear!
He could maybe stay here at school, but I’m so happy he’s going home with his person at the end of the year. YAY FOR GROWTH, BIHPPAS!
