Sometimes the government will just up and sue a statue, or sue a car or a suitcase full of cocaine. Like just go to a federal court and say "we want to file a lawsuit against this suitcase full of cocaine". This is just a fact of life. Never sure how many people are aware of that
I wandered into the kitchen and was like "does the Canadian government ever sue inanimate objects?" and my roommates were like I don't know so I went and looked it up and came back and was like "it turns out yes but the only inanimate objects you sue are boats"

I've started watching literally random anime. I found this one anime where the first two minutes were literally taken up by a fourth wall breaking Hot Take about "games should be fun and not make you worry too hard about real world issues!". Actually, it was decently argued Image
(If you have seen this anime please don't reply to tell me what happens in episode 8 or whatever. Content-warning me of actual left field CSA subplots is okay I guess)
Both of the last two video game isekai animes I've watched this way have had a main character whose first name was "Hiro". Okay. We get it. I get the joke.

A website I have been very happy with lately is calendly.com . It does exactly one thing and it does it extremely competently. Nothing about it makes me angry, scared, or miserable. I am aware of no evidence it is owned by nazis
It is rare enough to be noteworthy, lately, when a piece of software does not make me angry. It is difficult to say for sure if this is the fault of me or the fault of the software
The comment above about "not owned by nazis" was a reference to how often tech cos turn out to have awful founders. I looked it up and Calendly is founded by Tope Awotona, a Nigerian immigrant who appears to have overcome incredible legitimate personal hardship to get where he is

I need graph paper.
I go to the grocery store. They have no office supplies at all.
The next day I go to the drugstore. They have lined paper but no graph paper.
There's an art store nearby. I walk over. There's a sign saying no walk ins, have your exact order number ready.
I think: I see the sign, but surely saying "I need graph paper" is no worse than saying "I need order 32". I knock on the door. Someone comes out and says I have to order off the website. I stand outside bringing up the website. Someone else comes out.
They explain to me there's often a one-day processing time on the website so I don't want to order and stand waiting for it. So that's two separate face-to-face conversations, probably exactly what the policy they're bound by was designed to prevent. And I can't get graph paper.

New Hainbach album dropping on YouTube in a livestream premier thing in like 9 minutes, or that's what YouTube tells me anyhow
I'm currently listening to music in the format of
- A vinyl record
- Being played into a digital audio interface, then lossy-compressed to AAC, then streamed to another continent
The music likely contains magnetic tape echo effects so we've prolly got 80 years of artifacting here
I asked and there are no magnetic tapes on the album but some of the mastering equipment used vacuum tubes so at least we've got some of the character

So I'm reading this Greg Egan book, and this section of the book is Tenet, it's just Tenet, except he worked out all the math for how physics would work in a universe where the Einstein metric tensor was such as to make Tenet possible, and there's a full treatment of entropy
Also Egan wrote this book in 2013, so to be clear Egan did not get the *idea* from Tenet, unless Greg Egan himself is moving backward through time, presumably due to the corolois effect (he's Australian). That's how it works right? You flush the toilet & water rushes up into it?

Occasionally I see confused people suggesting trans people should avoid cosmetic surgery through self acceptance and, ok, WPATH explains why that's wrong, but also I kind of want to flip up "MAYBE CIS PEOPLE SHOULD DESTIGMATIZE HAVING PLASTIC SURGERY THEMSELVES" like a trap card
Under the most recent rules, insurance will sometimes cover procedures otherwise considered "cosmetic" for trans people, because WPATH considers congruent self image "medically necessary". What if insurance covered nosejobs for cis people? Shit, why not?? You're paying enough!!
Ladies and men who don't like how you look with beards: Permanent hair removal!! It's great!! It's cheap, compared to some other things!! Got like three hairs on your chin you're always shaving off? Zap 'em off! It'll take like one, two sessions, cost like a hundred bucks, $300
