1.Learn to question everything by dissecting your thoughts into a series of short simple stacked questions
i.e
Thought; I wanna start dating him/her
Questions;
i) Why do I want to start dating them??
ii) What are the perks of dating this person, upgrade or downgrade?
2.Never get into deals or high risk situations without articulating a well thought out process in the name of ; "Sure we'll figure it out later on"
The most successful people recognize the risk a prepare a well thought out process before, 'Just doing it.'
3. A mental guide to thinking;
a) Ask the right questions
Learn to ask questions based on the 'need' factor rather than the 'want' factor
See explanation down below ππ½
Learning to ask the right questions not only guides your thinking but constraints it in a certain field of view to see the bigger picture by filtering out unnecessary details thus avoiding massive time wastage in what in other words we call 'overthinking'
b) Use your questions to derive assumptions.
Assumptions are simply unverified facts.
Before a thought is termed to be true and correct there's a baseline of trigger questions to be asked, most common is the why and if factor. i.e
Why am I single?
If I steal do I go to jail?
c) Use your assumptions to derive true-proven facts;
After asking the important questions and deriving assumptions , it's now time to work up the facts.
d) The final and MOST important step ;
Use your true-proven facts to come up with mental models
A mental model is your perception and thought process particularly to how you relate with the surrounding environment.
Mental models are important because they determine how we respond to various types of surroundings and situations as human beings.
The most successful people in the world have equipped themselves with mental models for dealing with particular situations in their lives.
It's a skill that requires regular training but with time you get better at it
See thread below for better understanding of mental modelsππ½
