It’s difficult to escape the fact that @DrSJaishankar was lying about the Philippines not needing oxygen. It’s a lie with far too many holes: to start, they actually opened the gates for the IYC volunteers. So if the man would lie about this, can he be believed about anything?
And it wasn’t even something he really needed to lie about. He could easily have come off looking graceful if he’d just thanked the IYC volunteers for their national service & then said MEA is creating a helpline for embassies, coordinating supply etc. But no. He lied instead.
If @PMOIndia has any sense of leadership, for this blatant lie itself, @DrSJaishankar deserves to be fired. He has no moral authority to continue as a minister. And if I was in the top brass of the IFS, I would certainly resign in disgust. There has to be accountability.
But if Home Min can continue after the deadliest riots in Delhi in decades, Health Min can after endorsing quack cures, PM can after an unaudited pvt fund, it’ll be unfair if Jaishankar is fired. This is a dystopian cabinet, with the worst possible person picked for every office.

I strongly support the cause of making the following (and only these) free: education (incl university), healthcare, drinking water & air. Every citizen should have equal opportunity to build themselves. The govt wastes too much money on other needless things & doesn’t do its job
The next time someone says “but the govt doesn’t have money to spend on education, healthcare, water or air” (1/n)
