the thing with formatting for print-on-demand vs kindle—kindle has specific settings where it can ingest either a normal word doc or an ePub file. I have Pages, so it’s a little tricky for me, so it has to be formatted just right, exported as ePub, and we’re on our way
Print-on-demand, it doesn’t just ingest a normal word file or even an exported pdf, you need to format the doc for a specific page, specialized margins, smaller fonts, etc. so it’s not just a quick lift and shift, I needed to go through the entire doc, adjust those settings,
and export multiple times. and that also doesn’t account for the book cover, which for an ebook you only worry about the front, but print-on-demand requires spine and back matter. So, as an #indieauthor, I’m doing this all myself (or I could hire someone, but that requires $$$)
but! figure it out once, and I should be ready to do it for my other two books, which are less unique format-wise. so all those people who asked about these being available in print will soon have an option. I just need to figure out pricing.
“this all seems like a lot of work!” you exclaim. “why didn’t you just pursue traditional publishing, grant?”

maybe someday. I went the route I did because I was excited to try something and this avenue was available. the first one was weird and high concept, I didn’t expect
any agents or publishers to take me on based on it. The second was even higher concept (series of novellas) that really was playing with the format of serialized ebook releases, one of which I just wanted to give away. none of that works for print.
and the last one was a sequel to the first one. and the next one is a sequel to that. I kinda sabotaged myself for traditional publishing *several* times and just continue doing so. If I can do something that is standalone and isn’t too fucking weird, maybe I’ll start querying

Suffragette City. Fast, catchy, guitar driven, wham bam thank you ma’am
this song also feels like a precursor to bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Uptempo, heavy but catchy, etc. it’s in the vein of other punk precursors like the stooges and VU. “I’m Waiting for the Man” & “White Light/White Heat” are clear inspirations he regularly covered
AND lyrically, he’s referring specifically to A Clockwork Orange, which many punk bands drew inspiration from (most explicitly the Adicts who dressed like Alex and his droogs) Image
