MONDAY MAY 10 All AB Residents who are able: please stay home voluntarily in solidarity of a General Strike to reduce COVID numbers + in protest of an inept provincial govt.
Delaying action a week will provide enough notice for:
1. Word to spread effectively across industries and gain momentum. 2. Allow employers and small businesses ample time to plan for and respond to strike action. 3. For people to acquire adequate supplies needed to withstand a 14 day period of voluntary action.
General Strike Action will include: 1. A moritorium on work as much as it is possible for the health and wellness of your family. 2. A Daily 7 pm Moment of Thanks for frontline workers. Including noisemaking to signal participation to others in the area of action. >
3. Spreading information through Social Media Channels and encouraging participation through the simple act of STAYING HOME. 4. Identify and supporting individuals who do not have the luxury of missing work and creating community networks of communication
5. Identifying and addressing community needs and connecting those in need with available resources.
It will take a concerted effort from all of us to ensure the message gets through loud and clear.

Duration:
The General Strike will begin Monday May 10, 2021 at Noon and will commence with walk-off action.
Employers across Alberta are encouraged to participate in solidarity of the action. If they are unable to do so we ask that they work with their employees by providing >
A guarantee of employment following this 2 week period. This will empower your employees to do what it is in their conscience and safety to do. We thank you for your support.
The General Strike Action will Continue until Wednesday, May 26, 2022 at noon at which time >
Further action may be announced.
The PURPOSE of this work stoppage action, and self-imposed Lockdown, is two-fold: 1. To signal to our government that we are dissatisfied with their leadership and to demand the resignation of Jason Kenney, and >
2. To signal our support to frontline workers by stemming the tide of infection and supporting each other through this crisis.
Only by compassion can we work together and overcome this and bring everyone together in concerted effort.
Encourage others along, but do not berate.
Our first step: share this plan widely across platforms and throughout social networks. Petition local organizations to rally and lead the way. Contact your local leaders and bring them on side. >>
Finally:
Please lend aid to your neighbours and ensure everyone is happy and healthy. Please look out for each other as we demand better from our government.
It's time for an emergency election. We're done. #DropTheWritAB
@CupeAB we will need Unions onside to ensure this works. Please organize your people as much as possible
I am asking l major retailers in AB to join in Solidarity: CLOSE May 10 at noon. Then re-open for delivery/curbside pick up ONLY for the duration of the #GeneralStrikeAB + allow your staff participation + a return guarantee.
Ok, it's taken me a few days to process everything that happened on Tues. at the Public Hearing for the Mustard Seed. I want to talk about it in a constructive way, and for that I had to let a lot of things process.
I will start by saying I personally support the Mustard Seed.
I am also supportive of the proposed location for a shelter/support services, because the people who would most benefit from those services already frequent the area that was under discussion.
In many presentations to council, presenters were distressed that the services >
would bring further "undesireable elements" to the community. In my experience as a direct neighbour of the proposed site, the people who would find most value from the services already frequent the area in question. This isn't a new problem in our neighbourhood.
