I used to be a bartender at a concert venue. I worked countless shows of every genre. I could tell you what type of night we were going to have based on the type of music that would be playing. People’s personalities tend to be similar based on their taste in music

Metal shows - 99% white, 90% male, mostly 21+, below average tips but not terrible, below average intelligence, fights likely, beer or Jack drinkers

2/

EDM/Electronic/DJ - mixed races/genders, mostly younger ages 16-25, bad tips, bad attitudes, endless line at the bar, underage kids trying to sneak alcohol, vodka/Red Bull drinkers

3/

Country music - 100% white, 50/50 male/female, all ages, terrible tips, 90% Bud Light drinkers, no intelligence, American flags, fights

4/

Bluegrass/Jam Bands - mostly white, mostly male, mostly age 21-35, mixed tips, mixed intelligence, bad hygiene/smells bad, lots of weed smoking, draft beer/PBR drinkers, beer likely to run out

5/

Alternative music - mixed races, mixed genders, all ages, friendly crowd, good tips, higher intelligence, better dressed, little to no crowd problems, all drinks

6/

Jazz - 97% black, 50/50 gender, mostly couples, terrible tips, well dressed, mostly age 40+, lots of complaints about drinks being “too weak”/requests for long pours, LITs/wine/Hennessy drinkers

7/

Hip hop - 99% black, mostly male, very little tips, mostly under 30yo, almost always hear “what do you mean you don’t have Hypnotic? You only have white drinks here?”, multiple fights in the crowd

8/

Classic rock - 99% white, mixed genders, mostly age 45+, decent tips, mixed intelligence, American flags, heavy drinkers, 50/50 beer/mixed drinks ordered, bud light/Budweiser kegs likely to run out

9/

Ska - 99% white, mixed genders, mixed ages, mostly intelligent, ok tips, happy crowd, lots of skanking, “what are your specials?” Drinkers

10/

Punk - 95% white, mostly male, mixed ages, mixed intelligence, fights likely, everything drinkers, below average tips
