BREAKING: Former President Trump's Facebook ban upheld by Oversight Board. nbcnews.to/3xQ7smo
"The Board has upheld Facebook’s decision on January 7, 2021, to restrict then-President Donald Trump’s access to posting content on his Facebook page and Instagram account," Oversight Board says.
The decision to uphold the ban is a blow to Trump's hopes to post again to Facebook or Instagram anytime soon, but it opens the door to him eventually returning to the platforms. Facebook must complete a review of the length of the suspension within 6 months, the board said.
“As Facebook suspended Mr. Trump’s accounts ‘indefinitely,’ the company must reassess this penalty,” the board said. “It is not permissible for Facebook to keep a user off the platform for an undefined period, with no criteria for when or whether the account will be restored.”

DeSantis signed the bill, which was passed by the GOP-controlled legislature last month, live on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" during an interview.

Throughout the week, the governor had been holding more formal bill-signing ceremonies across the state as he signed bills into law.
The legislation enacts a host of changes, including limits on where drop boxes could be placed, restrictions on who can drop off a voter's ballot, a mandate that drop boxes be staffed while open, and a requirement that voters must request to vote-by-mail more frequently.

SPECIAL REPORT: Texas was hit by the biggest carbon monoxide catastrophe in recent US history during February's storm.

Many poisoning victims had no CO alarms in their homes — Texas is one of the few states that don't require them.

nbcnews.to/3u4m0wH
At least 11 deaths have been confirmed and more than 1,400 people sought care at emergency rooms and urgent care clinics for carbon monoxide poisoning during the weeklong Texas outage in February, just 400 shy of the total for 2020.

Children made up 42% of the cases.
Black, Hispanic and Asian Texans suffered a disproportionate share of the carbon monoxide poisonings, @ProPublica, @TexasTribune and @NBCNews found based on a review of hospital data.

They accounted for 72% of the poisonings, far more than their 57% share of Texas' population.

Superior Court Judge Jeff Foster said turning over footage to news media could affect a potential trial of law enforcement officers who opened fire while serving a warrant on the 42-year-old Black man in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
But Foster ordered the sheriff to allow Brown's immediate family and lawyer to privately view body-cam footage from 4 deputies within the next 10 days.

For years, experts have warned that a direct strike from a Category 4/5 hurricane to the Houston region could unleash a 25-foot wall of water and cause humanitarian, economic and environmental disaster.

Reporting by @Mike_Hixenbaugh (1/5) #NBCNewsThreads nbcnews.to/3sYvhVt
@Mike_Hixenbaugh Studies estimate that such a storm could kill thousands, cause $100B in damage and result in the loss of 500,000 jobs.

One expert has warned that the resulting spills from thousands of chemical and crude oil storage tanks would be “America’s Chernobyl.” (2/5)
@Mike_Hixenbaugh Now, with President Biden pushing a $2.25T infrastructure package, some members of Congress from Texas say it’s time to finally fund the $26B coastal barrier project, known informally as the “Ike Dike.” (3/5) nbcnews.com/news/us-news/t…
