One of our students, Jiayu Li, has been involved in a wonderful volunteer project in association with the Government of Canada, YMCA Community Action Network, Chocolate River Publishing and Canada Service Corps for the past year and have recently published a series of artworks
and literature from Canadian Youth. Jiayu, has been involved in many interesting and innovative extra-curricular projects both at our school and in our community and includes areas such as graphic design, web design, programming, and even developed the website our school used to
assist in course selection for all HTHS students.
The project, titled “The Coronicles” is an initiative organized by local Moncton, New Brunswick students working to collect COVID related artworks and literatures from Canadian youth to be published.”
Here is the full explanation of the book: This is a hard and weird time to be alive, not to mention living in a pandemic as a teenager -- going through new situations and events that had hardly happened in human history. With The Coronicles, we want to chronicle the real
emotions and stories through the power of literature and art from Canadian youths themselves during this pandemic. Our goal is to create and publish a historical record of this moment from the perspective of those who will live with the impacts of COVID-19 the longest.
Congratulations to Jiayu and her other student collaborators from BMHS and MHS, especially Chief Editing Officers Sonia Song and Chau Vo. Keep up the magnificent work, students! The Coronicles is available at school and public libraries.
