Alright here we go! It's thread time again. Kawaan Baker was requested so let's get into two games of his. I haven't gotten around to him yet so I'm excited.
The bad news is that South Alabama All-22 is not easy to acquire so we will be working with TV broadcasts unfortunately.
The first game is @ Oklahoma St in 2018
Covered by: KICKOFF
And immediately we see some good blocking here on kickoff coverage.
Covered by: IN MOTION
Here we see a failed end around. This play was doomed from the start, this defense is going to overpower them a lot I fear.
Covered by: Rodarius Williams
Well I'm going to have fun if he keeps bullying people like this. That's 2020 NFL Draft Pick Rodarius Williams he's handling there.
Covered by: in motion
Gets the pitch here and lays the wood afterwards. He really is built like a running back. He was right when he said he was fun to watch.
In motion again this time gets the handoff. Get a good block but shows some footwork and gains a couple extra yards.
and they do it AGAIN
but hey I guess it's working
TRIPLE OPTION
I did NOT expect this to work so well.
Excellent job making guys miss, good recovery, and a strong finish. Not much more you can ask for from Baker here.
some more blocking for the intellectuals
Man they really just do whatever that can to get him the ball. Can't blame them
love what he seems to bring after the catch
oof certainly NOT what we want to see
Covered by: Jarrick Bernard-Converse
Makes up for it though on the next possession!
Just flat out beats his guy, some great acceleration and burst on that one. TD grab to add to his TD run.
quick intermission to point out that oklahoma state has it at 3rd and 44
man, the playcalling and ATROCIOUS quarterback play has really taken him out of the game in the second half
want to see more route running but of course hard to do without all 22
wow yea that's it for that game, one of the worst offensive halves I've seen in a while
not Kawaan's fault however
outside of the bad drop I really like everything I saw him bring to the table in that first half
That's why I wanted to do two games though!
Let's go with a game @ Louisiana from 2020
Starting off with some more blocking here
One thing I WILL say for a fact, is that Baker is always searching for someone to block on plays he doesn't get the ball
WR screen here for Baker
Again showing off RAC ability and his ability to make guys miss
A couple of PI's later we see Baker show some moves on the goal line and gets open for an easy touchdown.
Finally getting to see a little bit of route work.
Baker has got some FIGHT in him that's for sure
another WR screen for Baker
makes one guy miss but the second guy gets his legs
interesting play here
gets physical off the snap, fights through and comes down with it
can't knock the guys effort
and that brings us to the end of the Kawaan Baker thread!
impressions from these two games:
didn't get asked to do much route-wise
great and willing blocker
not the most sure handed but wasn't too much of an issue
makes guys MISS
runs like a running back
deceptively strong
What would you grade the 7th round selection of Kawaan Baker after these two games?
Hi! Let's do something I don't normally do, but want to do more often! Let's take a look at Paulson Adebo's game vs USC (2019) with potential Top 5 pick Kedon Slovis at QB together!
Gonna watch the game and share stuff I find interesting.
Covering: Tyler Vauhgns
So here in the first minute of the game is a play where he won't show up on the stat sheet, but I just liked how much ground he gained and almost got back into the play.
Covering: Tyler Vaugns
Here we see Vaughns get away from him for a second, but Adebo recovers well and still takes him out of the play and saves a touchdown.
