@SiriusXMNFL On Sewell, Campbell said the draft room reaction when Miami took Waddle was even bigger than the celebration we all saw. “To be able to land a big man like that has temperament, great feet, from a good family -- everything he’s about, we couldn’t be happier.”

On Onwuzurike: As mentioned in the RT of @thelionswire earlier, the Lions see him as a 4i or 3-tech in a base 3-4. “One, he plays much bigger and stouter than his 290 pounds would indicate. Two, when he gets an edge, he’s got a ton of upside to rush the quarterback.”

On McNeill: “This is not just a two-down nose.” Campbell said the Lions would use him that way, as a zero-tech or shade vs. the run, “but (we) know he’s got the quickness or explosion to hit an edge on an offensive linemen or a center and put pressure on the quarterback.”

Campbell made note of Melifonwu’s physical traits -- “long linear cornerback; he’s got long arms … he can clearly get up there and press.” But what “really got us excited was watching him in off coverage.” Lions liked how he reacted to plays in front of him and his ball skills.

St. Brown will come in and compete for slot reps, as expected. “But,” Campbell said, “I think this kid’s got some outside flex to him, too.” Fit the Lions’ “football player” criteria across the board. “Is he gonna run a 4.3? Nah, he’s not a 4.3 guy. But he plays fast, man.”

They *love* Barnes and believe he could become a foundational piece. “He’s got so much room to grow. … He can run, he’s tough, he’s smart, 34-inch arms so he comes downhill and he can shed blocks. We all think he can grow into something special. His character reeks of success.”

Finally, Jefferson. Lions had at least a Round 6 grade on him. Holmes influence here: “He had some of the fastest play speeds of any back in this draft.” No worries about his 4.5/4.6 40 time. “I care about vision and toughness and smarts, and this kid hits every one of them..”
