I made $21 in my first 6 month on fiverr as a freelancer

I did receive many requests from buyers but as a newbie, I struggled with the art of selling

Some of the real-life principles (not tactics) I used. I actually copied it from some people. Why re-invent a wheel?
I knew my potentials. I could see something better, something greater. I knew this freelancing of a thing is for me. I knew, I knew that I would make money from freelancing. But I can make stupid money If I up the way I sell.

During my visit to Abuja, I learned something from
a customer representative of Arik Air. My flight was scheduled for 7am but I sleep a lot. You see, I can see for 23 hours from the total 24 hours a day. The doctor said it's not normal but mehn, I enjoy it.

Onward

I sha missed that flight.

The Arik Air's Representatives
was exceptional in handling my case. She gave me one simple principle that was responsible for my success as a freelancer. I closed many deals. Turned down many of them. I then increased my price and making $6k was easy. This was in 2017. I was expected to be in Abuja by 10am
but I missed it. However, there was an afternoon flight. Where most customer rep would say "I can book a flight leaving at 2:30pm for you", this lady, a sales-spirited one, showed me one of the greatest customer retention strategies.
She found a way to appease me, which, as you can guess, might be quite worked up about a cancelled flight. So while knowing all too well that seats on the 2:30 PM flight are
still available, the representative said “Well, there’s a flight at 6:30 AM tomorrow, but let me see
what I can do to put you on an earlier flight, but I am afraid it’s fully booked. Hang on there, let me check”

The few moments ensued, while I listened to the representative clicking. I wasn't so sure but I could guess she was either shopping online or replying her bf messages,
but what actually matters is
that I thought she cares a lot about me. I mean, this is someone who's ready to go extra miles to please me. After more than 90 seconds, she finally said

“Ok, so I’ve managed to squeeze you in on an earlier flight at 2:30
PM this afternoon.”
This is called experience engineering, as it compares two less desirable options. In this case, a less-desirable option was the 6:30am flight the next day, this created a mental imbalance, making the 2:30pm flight, the best alternative.
As a customer, I wasn't concerned about my
missed flights as I was happy to have avoided waiting until the next day.

What does this mean for your freelancing journey? It means you should always put your clients as your priority. When a client reaches out to you, show them you care about them.

For instance, a client
that needs an SEO article might forward her website and ask for your opinion. Even if you can give her the SEO score immediately, don't. Tell her you are using your premium SEO tools to find the best SEO reports since most SEO software in the market are biased. It will paint a
Mental anchoring, painting you as a freelancer who cars.
It works all the time. It worked yesterday and will continue to work.

Agreed?

Why you struggle as a freelancer (Almost everyone struggles with Number 3)
1. Looking for Eight-figure companies to work for

You probably will never work for an eight-figure company throughout your freelancing journey (It's not a curse) because the big agencies have snapped up the last one you could work with
Starting as a newbie, I preferred working with small companies. I enjoyed working directly with the decision makers and not have to lose sleep over working with 12 layers of management. Moreover, you will get paid faster but you also risk not getting paid at all

Dear freelance writers, do this and you are guaranteed to land at least 3 clients next week. No jokes. RT for others
Now that you have no gig you are working on, niche down on who you wanna work with. Choose 3 niches (you can choose less). For example, someone can choose SaaS, Healthcare, and financial planning niches.
Use this week to write two SEO articles on each niche, give it to other writers to assess. Ensure you give it to people who will criticize your copies objectively. Subjective criticisms drain one's morale.

About 76% of LinkedIn members said the “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” feature is one of the most helpful tools on LinkedIn (paying members get much more value from this feature). If you are a job seeker, knowing which employers or recruiters have been visiting your profile can guide
you to follow up with those individuals. You might say something like, “I noticed you viewed my profile. I am very interested in x and would like to have a conversation with you this week or next. Might we set up time to meet?”

Unfortunately, information on your viewers is
extremely limited without a LinkedIn Premium membership. But you can get some details. For example, try clicking on “Weekly search appearances” from your profile page. #linkedinTIPS

Have you wanted to know what search terms other members, potential clients, recruiters or

The Under-talked Don'Ts on LINKEDIN

Before you start prospecting on LinkedIn, you absolutely must avoid spamming people or groups.

YOU DON'T CLOSE DEALS ON LINKEDIN

DEAL CLOSINGS TAKE PLACE VIA CALL OR EMAIL EXCHANGE (Especially high-ticket deals)

Spam will not get
you anywhere except quickly placed on the pay-no-mind list.

Quantity will not out-weight quality in this model. You will also be completely avoiding advertisements. (I will show you how to do this via inbox)

The self-service ads are expensive and a challenge if you’re an
amateur media buyer. Ads are two-edged sword; if you’re good, you can make almost unlimited money. If you’re terrible, it is a black-hole money trap.

However, there are benefits of LinkedIn ads in certain cases, but in a very narrow and specific sense: say you wanted to
