THREAD: Last night, Israeli forces terrorized thousands of Palestinian worshipers, unleashing tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and stun grenades inside Al Aqsa Mosque. Over 200 Palestinians were injured, including 88 who were hospitalized. One Palestinian lost an eye.
The armed invasion of Muslims’ holiest site in Jerusalem came towards the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.
Palestinians stayed at Al Aqsa after prayers to protest against Israeli plans to evict Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Israeli courts have ruled that Palestinians can be evicted from their homes so Israeli settlers can take them. In total, more than 200 Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah face forced eviction.
Palestinians fear more settler and police violence as Israelis gear up to celebrate “Jerusalem Day” on Sunday night and Monday, when Israelis celebrate Israel’s occupation of the holy city. Settlers typically maraud through the Old City on “Jerusalem Day,” terrorizing families.
Israel’s violence has a clear purpose: ethnically cleanse Jerusalem of Palestinians to allow Israeli settlers to take over Palestinian homes.
Nowhere in Jerusalem is safe for Palestinians. This is the brutality of Israeli apartheid.

URGENT: The Israeli military has kidnapped all members aboard the Freedom Flotilla’s Madleen aid ship, including activist Greta Thunberg.
Communication with the group has been completely cut off.
The Freedom Flotilla coalition set sail for Gaza with the goal of delivering life-saving aid and breaking Israel’s siege. Israel is currently starving Gaza’s entire population, nearly half of whom are children.
Just hours before the ship reached Gaza, the Israeli military surrounded the Madleen with quadcopters and boats, sprayed the ship with an irritating white substance, and then illegally boarded and kidnapped all 12 human rights defenders on board.

On June 5, 1967, Israel violently occupied the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, forcing at least 300,000 Palestinians out of their homes.
Israeli soldiers destroyed hundreds of towns and thousands of Palestinian homes. Soon after, Israel began building Israeli-only settlements on the land it stole from Palestinian families.
THREAD: What you should know about the Nakba this Nakba Day ⬇️

In 1948, armed militias invaded towns and neighborhoods across Palestine, massacring families & forcing the majority of Palestinians to flee their homes.
Palestinians call this the Nakba, Arabic for the “catastrophe.”
Before the Nakba, Palestine was a vibrant place, where Palestinians of many faiths lived in harmony as friends and neighbors.

The US government is keeping Mahmoud in an ICE detention center in Louisiana, over 1,000 miles away from his wife Dr. Noor Abdulla, who is 9 months pregnant with their first child.
THREAD: Today is tax day. Do you know how much federal tax dollars your city sends Israel to harm Palestinians?
In 2024, New York City gave Israel $560,221,619 in weapons for its genocide. That could have funded groceries for 1,178,793 New York families for a month.
Israel used that money to bomb Gaza's aid distribution centers and starve Palestinian families.
In 2024, Los Angeles gave Israel $238,666,273 in weapons for its genocide. That could have covered rent for 149,634 low-income households for a month.
Israel used that money to bomb and destroy thousands of Palestinian homes, burying entire families under rubble.
