Wokeness is a fanatical faith that can’t be beat with nothing, i.e. going to back to liberalism 5 years ago or “common good” weirdness. The transcendent experience of parenthood as the center of a political and social ideology can do it, consistent with religion and science.
Nationalism is weak. That's why you need laws on migrants and tariffs, people won't sacrifice a dollar for their "nation." Historical trend has it losing to universalist ideologies: liberal internationalism, wokeness, Communism, Islamism, but they keep running into human nature
There was a slight sliver of history when from about 1789 to 1945, when technology was such that gov had a monopoly on propaganda and got people to die in large numbers for their countries without revolting (still need conscription). But that's not the norm, it was an aberration.
And *American* nationalism is the weakest of all. A country founded on liberalism, with decades of mass immigration, highly polarized, and having gone through several cultural revolutions in the last decades. It’s useful for war mongers and crypto-racialism but not for much else.

Damn Irish pubs.
Go to black cookouts and black churches to get to know about black womxn, a term that everyone uses there.
What did "raise the roof" ever do to this guy?

Skeptical take on the paper about fungus on Mars. Some parts of this critique are just appeals to authority, which I don’t like, but others seem more legitimate. I wonder what ⁦@robinhanson⁩ thinks. cnet.com/news/no-nasa-p…
Criticizes the guy for not publishing in peer reviewed journals, but when he does publish in one, the journalist who doesn’t like him gets it retracted. Heads I win, tails you lose?
We are told the paper used “inaccurate methodology,” but there is no explanation as to what is bad about the methodology, only insults and criticism of past work. That would’ve been a more valuable discussion than paragraph after paragraph about the prestige of different journals

This CIA recruitment video would be a little too much for a Chicana/o studies department. A collection of every campus buzzword in two minutes.

No wonder they wanted the last administration gone, now they can be themselves!
I like the part about not engaging in uptalk. This was written by a young person who really paid attention in college.
Soon after 9/11 American Dad! debuted, about a CIA agent who was supposed to be representative of his profession, a Fox News watching Bush supporter. As the series progressed the stereotype became out of date and the political angle of the show has been completely dropped.

Nice review, but few make the obvious connection between sexual selection, and how it's not only consistent with feminism, but the IDW position of "treat people as individuals." There's a kind (or many kinds) of PD here that gov or custom might solve. quillette.com/2021/04/30/whe…
Would like to see the source here! And hopefully a replication, if social desirability bias is a thing. Image
When female journalists report constantly feeling “unsafe” it probably accurately represents their mental state. Image

Believe it or not, when you run from the cops, who are responding to gun shots, with a gun in your hand, and then you raise that gun, bad things can happen. Image
Watch the video. Split second decision. The kid has the gun in his hands, drops it behind the fence and then turns around, completely reasonable for the cop to believe that the kid was turning around to shoot him. vimeo.com/536331629

FDA will end up killing a lot more Africans than Americans. Did they factor vaccine hesitancy in the third world when they were playing 6D chess with the public? nytimes.com/2021/04/14/wor… Image
Nice job. I’m sure Malawi will get the message when Fauci declares this all shows how careful he really is. Image
“Amid the clotting concerns, the World Health Organization and African Union have not wavered in recommending the use of the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccines.” If WHO is run by China like idiots say no wonder it’s much more competent than the US and EU.
