Our cheerleader and Truman scholar, Hayden Richardson, wrote an honors thesis that was co-advised by the former Dean of the Law School. She interviewed cheerleaders. Let’s look at what it says 🧵
Black cheerleaders complained about a pervasive atmosphere of racist harassment. They were banned, contractually, from wearing natural hair or wearing their hair in braids. When one showed up w curls, the coach grabbed her head and said she was “disrespectful”
Her mother called Polisky - he dismissed her complaint and said her daughter would have to handle handle it herself.

This report finds no support for Polisky among students (at best they are “neutral,” and many strongly opposed.) So where do you stand, coaches @NU_Sports? With your students or with your new boss?
And what about you @StudentAffNU? You’ve been very quiet. These are your students, too. Aren’t we supposed to respond to student concerns about racism and harassment?
