A late entry for day 2: Supernatural

a thread ;
The day Daichi was missing, the whole office lost their shit.

The case Daichi was going to was supposed to be an easy pick-up mission. No one was expecting an ambush to happen, not even Daichi-san himself.
When the team he led for the night came back, confused and injured, without him, the whole office lapsed into chaos.

There was a possibility that Daichi became a victim of the special case the Miyagi Prefecture Police Force were facing.
Some people, scattered around in Miyagi, had been missing for the past months. Everyone who had been with the victims came back confused, not knowing what had happened, and their beloved missing. No victim in the case was ever found. It was a hopeless pit of despair.
No one in the office wanted to put the missing status beside Daichi's name. Instead, they searched the town, trying to find any clues on him, even though they knew it was useless. Desperate times called for desperate measures.
Which was why when Daichi came back to the office that night, a sheepish smile on his face, everyone was overjoyed.

Nishinoya cheered. Tanaka shook Daichi energetically. Suga punched him in the stomach. Asahi almost cried.
Ennoshita felt like he might have too if it wasn't for Kinoshita and Narita there. The interns were relieved, even Tsukishima was showing some emotion on his usual stoic face.
They hadn't been expecting that Daichi would come back. That Daichi would step into the office ever again.

What they also hadn't been expecting was the demon tailing Daichi.
They were all hugging Daichi and giving him pats here and there—punches in Suga's case—when suddenly the demon appeared out of thin air, floating around, and said, "Hello, humans."
It was silent for a few seconds except for Daichi's scoldings towards the demon, saying something about not annoying humans if he could help it.

Suga was the first one to snapped out of the trance. "...Daichi?"
The man turned from the demon, smiled at him, and said, "Yes?", with a oblivious tone, as if it was the most normal thing in the world to see a demon floating in the air, hands wrapped almost possessively around him.
When it was met with silence again, Daichi seemed to slowly realized what the problem was.

"Oh," he said, glancing back at the demon beside him. Said demon was smirking at him, probably waiting for Daichi to realize the matter at hands. "Um. This is Kuroo."
Turned out Kuroo was really a demon. One who worked with the person, or demon called the Grand King, who was responsible for the missing cases in Miyagi.

"Used to," Kuroo complained as he stretched his hands aroun Daichi's neck. He was still floating in the air. "I defected."
"Can we ask why?" Suga was the only one who could talk to the demon so nonchalantly. The rest of the officers were either shaking like a leaf—the interns—or glaring too much—Nishinoya and Tanaka.
All of them had thought that the demon would either rather not to answer the question or launched into this lengthy explanation about revenge, evil, and shits. But Kuroo just smirked at them. His face looked like it would get split into two.
Daichi sighed as if he had been expecting this.

"I got bored there," he said while twirling around Daichi's head in the air. Even the robe he was wearing defied the law of gravity. "Thought it would be fun to spice it up a little bit for the Grand King, no?"
When they turned to Daichi once again, pleading an explanation, the man just shrugged. "He is a demon," he reminded them.

Well, that explained a lot.
It was in the middle of their discussion when Daichi suddenly announced that he was in a contract with the demon, a trade for releasing him from the Grand King. He was tied now to the mischievous entity, at least until that particular missing person case was solved.
"What?!" Suga had screamed and punched Daichi. Asahi looked between them in panic, didn't know who to calm.

"There really is nothing that I can do! Kuroo saved me!" Daichi tried to explain to them. "No, Kuroo, stop bothering Tsukishima."
He grabbed the demon's robe and pulled him closer to himself.

The demon pouted at the warning, but stayed close to Daichi nonetheless.

It was weird. The two of them were being so civil to each other.
"Oh, don't worry. I gave him a good beating," Daichi said nonchalantly while Kuroo pouted at him again.

"More like I let you beat me, sweetling," he said.

"Nah. I totally beat you."

Weirder. Seeing them interact like a married couple.
So the Miyagi Police Force tried to tolerate him. They thought the demon would be bored soon—he said it himself he was searching for entertainment—and that was what Daichi said too.

But the demon stayed.
Kuroo stayed when they solved a homicide in two days because of his help—demonic powers. Kuroo stayed when a mysterious corpse was found near the riverbank. Kuroo stayed when more corpses were found and they found out they were the missing person from their long-lasting case.
Kuroo stayed after the particular case was closed and the Grand King was taken after.

Now all he did was tail Daichi, jumping from a supernatural case to another case for months.
"You want to get rid of me already? I'm hurt," Kuroo would say if he was asked why.

Daichi, on the other hand, would shrug. "I also don't know. At least he's helpful so..."
It wasn't a valid enough reason to keep a demon as a detective's assistant. But no one in the Miyagi Police Force went against it.
Who would after seeing how Kuroo, a demon, looked at Daichi with love shaped eyes? Or after seeing how Daichi would lean against Kuroo when he hovered in the air behind him?

It was still weird. Keeping a demon in a police force. But they were all fine with it.

//end. (?)
