A #DisneyMustPay Task Force Update - Alan Dean Foster, James Kahn, and Donald F. Glut, the novelization authors of the original Star Wars trilogy, have resolved their royalties’ issues and will be paid by Disney. Lower-profile authors have not received the same treatment. 1/5
The International Association of Media Tie-In Writers #IAMTW, the International Thriller Writers @thrillerwriters, and Mystery Writers of America @EdgarAwards have joined the Task Force along with award-winning author, screenwriter, and producer @LeeGoldberg . 2/4
We have received more reports of affected authors since our 4/28 press release announcing the task force. Please continue raising awareness by sharing WritersMustBePaid.org & using #DisneyMustPay. Encourage writers to check their media tie-in contracts. 3/4
Awards season is starting soon. Time for a primer on SFWA's Suggested Reading List! The list is a great way to find new books, stories, games, and media, and get up-to-date for the upcoming awards season. Let's have a thread! 1/11
The Suggested Reading List is created by SFWA's 1800+ members. It's always being added to, with new listings appearing as members make recommendations for work they loved. 2/11
Only SFWA members can add to the list. We would LOVE it if *every* SFWA member added their favorites. The more members participate, the better and more useful the list is. We especially would like to see more recommendations for indie books and diverse works! 3/11
Gearing up for the #nebulas2018 panel on “How to decolonize your fiction,” with Bill Campbell, Rebecca Roanhorse, Fonda Lee, JY Yang, DongWon Song. This is going to be great!
DS: We’re going to talk about decolonization, and about how to represent other cultures in your writing. But first, intros.
BC: I’m in publishing, and we specialize in SF and comics, with a multicultural flair. And I’m originally from Pittsburgh!
Hello #Nebulas2018 ! Panel live tweet starts NOW, with “How to fail gracefully,” with Michael Underwood, Carrie DiRisio, Vanessa Rose Phin, and moderator Annalee Flower-Horne.
What do you do when you make a mistake, and we will ALL make mistakes. How do you apologize?
VRP: It’s important to acknowledge the people you’ve hurt, even if you are upset yourself, and feeling defensive.
