Since people have suspended all objectivity and base all their opinions on headlines, Insta stories and evocative pics from the pandemic porn, I'm turning this article into a thread that tackles all the questions related to the Govt's treatment of #COVID19India. Read & share
Did India fail to anticipate a second wave?
It's the world and the media that signalled an end of COViD. The indian govt in fact didn't get complacent and issued multiple advisories and ramped up health care when critics questioned lockdowns and mask mandates.
Q: Why did India hold elections in the middle of Pandemic?
A: holding elections is a constitutional requirement. World over elections have been held during a pandemic. In fact it's the BJP that had proposed to do virtual rallies but were shot down by the EC & Other parties
What about the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar? Why was it allowed?
Q: india's vaccination strategy - is it right?
A: govt gave emergency approval & support to 2 domestically made vaccines. Despite all bad press Covaxin got, it's being mass produced. India's already vaccinated almost 200mn - fastest in the world. Both vaccines r almost free
Q:Why did we export the vaccines?
A:
Two main reasons. 1) contractual obligations and 2) return of goodwill.
Also vaccines were exported when cases in our country were low.
Q: why build the Central Vista Project during a pandemic?
A: infrastructure investments spark a virtuous cycle of economic recovery and are a known "hack" to helo economies recover after a period of depression. The cost of stopping it is higher. Will save 1000cr in rent/per annum
Q: Has medical infrastructure shortage been fixed
A: in just 1 year India has increased its isolation beds from 10k to 93k. India's oxygen requirement before the 2nd wave was 700MT. It jumped to 9k MT in days -- a jump which posed the biggest fulfillment .... Read more
Q: what next? What's the govt doing to battle the second wave now?
- free food & ration scheme covering 800 mn indians
- new anti-covid drug developed by DRDO
- building over 550 oxygen generating units
-150,000 sensing based oxygen controller systems
And even if after all these facts, you still question the govt and hold them personally responsible for India's situation with the second wave, you're just a petty opportunist looking for an excuse to fly your propaganda. You don't really care about the truth
Q:What happened with #PMCaresFund? What was it used for?
A: while the govt is under no obligation to reveal the exact data on how a voluntary donation fund is used, here's some of them:
- free COViD tests (govt has done around 30 cr free tests)
- Ventilators
- free vaccines
Making this thread cost me a pot of rice that boiled and burned while I wrote and compiled all this data. So pls RT.
One RT for every burned rice grain.
Yes the situation is bad. It's very heartwrenching to see all the despair, the deaths, the struggle.
But is the govt solely to blame? Is it fair to call Modi personally accountable for it? Is it anyone's fault really? That's the issue. Look for solutions, sanity, not scapegoats.
