The US gubbment could not successfully build a moderate Syrian opposition, build a secular civil Afghan state, create a viable nation in post-democratic Iraq, buy a small naval combatant or even a new scout helicopter or armored vehicle for the Army among 10 million other things

Could it interface with space aliens or posses crashed alien spacecraft -- and keep that secret all this time?

As for the Carl Sagan social science here it seems right on point. In an era in which significant numbers of our fellow citizens hoard gas in grocery bags and/or don't believe in germs, like, you'd CLEARLY have a whole spectrum of responses if Gort landed

I don't know whether the UFOs Are Foreign Spy Drones thesis is correct or not, but the bureaucratic Not-Meism and Somebody Else's Problemism and Ostrich Doctrine that could make it possible = VERY plausible -- see also, U.S. Cybersecurity, Everywhere

We've just come through an era in which partisan antagonists showed how readily they'll weaponize IC work or IC material in order to inflict political damage on their opponents. That politicians would show restraint re that, especially UFOs, is most unbelievable of all

... of course I hear you saying, "wull, of course Congress would never be read into the space alien stuff, that's obviously too sensitive," and we have Sen Reid saying as much ☝️ ... and then it becomes, well actually the gubbment doesn't act the way you know it acts, etc etc

And it turns out the biggest secret of all -- more than UFOs, more than alien life -- is that buried deep within the actual U.S. Gubbment we know is a *secret* U.S. Gubbment that actually is effective! 😂
