So from media reports, it looks like Netanyahu, Naftali Bennett and Ra'am's Mansour Abbas have done a deal:
1. Bennett pulls out of the new coalition because "we can't have a Government that depends on Mansour Abbas", and backs Netanyahu again.
2. Bennett and Netanyahu have reportedly convinced Mansour Abbas to back a "direct election" bill. The winner of the election would get 90 days to form a Government in this Knesset.
3. The Bill would also cancel the rotation agreement, preventing Benny Gantz from automatically becoming PM this winter. It would make Netanyahu "Full Prime Minister" again, giving him much more power.
4. After that, Netanyahu fires Gantz, something he can't currently do, and appoints Bennett Defence Minister. Ayelet Shaked becomes Foreign Minister.
5. Netanyahu wins the direct election and gets 90 days to form a coalition in this Knesset, something he already failed to do. He fails again.
6. Bennett and Shaked are given high slots in the Likud party list in the SIXTH election, which takes place October/November.
7. Mansour Abbas / Ra'am get... I'm not sure? Something big, one assumes.
Thing is, I can't see what Ra'am could possibly get that would be politically worth them doing a deal that keeps Netanyahu in office.
So I wonder if Abbas will flip back to opposing the direct election plan in the end.
