If you're vaccinated, you can still become infected with COVID, HOWEVER the vaccine is effective in preventing the SEVERE disease that overwhelmed our hospital system. We're fortunate to live in a country where a part of the population has to be incentivized to get vaccinated.
As restrictions are lifted, we'll learn more in the months in the come. I hope people respect my decision to continue to wear a mask while indoors, as this virus is airborne and children are not fully vaccinated.
There are also 10 million people in the United States considered immunocompromised who will likely continue to wear masks indoors: cancer patients, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV, and those with autoimmune or chronic inflammatory conditions.
Young and healthy people can get severely sick and die from COVID. My 27 y.o. cousin Simon Press died before we had a vaccine. Please encourage all your loved ones to get vaccinated.
