Ah @bbcnews. Started as a newsroom assistant, then I went into local radio. Via uni, I got a gig on On The Record at 4 Millbank (now defunct Sunday show) and then I freelanced for a while. I worked with some of the best. Now I'm desperately saddened by the @bbc. A thread...
What depresses me is that the @bbc has always been a political football. Even in the Birt days, there was always pressure to be pro Govt. But editorial teams soldiered on and told the story they should tell. Today, we have something pernicious and quite different: ...
A bunch of client journalists like @laurak and @chrismasonbbc who no longer abide by Auntie's own impartiality principles taking every opportunity to make opposition parties look awful. Of course, this is because current Tories are now running the show. It's a win-win for Govt...
If lefties get annoyed by the now pro Govt bias of most News & Current Affairs output, then they switch off or even defund the Corporation and that means the @bbc moves even further away from its principles. If they don't, they can continue to manipulate then and make @uklabour..
...appear to be failing or 'the problems. As an ex employee of the Auntie, I rigorously defending it. But the desperate thing for me is that with notable exceptions like @maitlis, the @bbc is rapidly becoming no better than @russiatoday or some other propaganda mouthpiece...
Now some might say, ah well, the @bbc still funds great drama like #lineofduty or #eastenders and that's all it should do in a competitive multichannel media world. BUT truth dies in darkness and it is the @bbc that is turning of its own lights because it has been infiltrated ...
By people that mean to do it major and lasting harm. I've always been proud of my early career associations with Auntie but no more. During the US elections, I switched to @cnn. I find myself watching @SkyNews more. Were it not for my obsession with the juggle drums theme, I'd...
Never watch @bbcnews again. On most days @BBCNewsnight is OK but now I find myself saddened by how blatant the Tory bias is on the @bbc. Some might say, that's revenge give the BBC's left wing bias. But that was always utter bollocks. Even in the Blair years, we told both sides.
Now I fear for what was once the world's greatest single broadcaster. Its output cannot be trusted as a whole. It has been infiltrated by outside forces that wish to do it serious and permanent harm and right now, they are winning.
Not sure what the solution is, but adhering to its own guidelines and charter would be a fine start. Otherwise, what once a fine institution will be utterly annihilated from within. Forgive spelling mistakes - I typed in some considerable anger.
