From a purely economic viewpoint there are 35k GPs providing clinical care for 70 million people who will all have had some GP clinical care just by being born. The government used to pay for it but now resources stretched too thin
GPs might go back to charging for their time. This would likely lead to better facilities, access, services & staff morale. NHSE would then need to provide alternative care for those who could not afford this. Some GPs may choose to work between the 2 services.
It is a responsibility of government to ensure that the tax they take for public healthcare is used wisely in the procurement of health services for you and your family if any of you would be so unfortunate to need it.
The contract between government and taxpayer has therefore been broken as when you want care the government is not providing it in a timely manner.
Time matters for clinical outcomes and the sicker someone is the less time should be spent in transit to see a GP or specialist
This is what government must solve and I hope the most talented MP minds regardless of political affiliations would get together and form a cross party committee to make generational decisions. This can be solved & NHS saved.
In the meantime GPs could charge for the care they provide to avoid a collapse in primary care.
I have used myhealthspecialist many times for my own family’s healthcare needs and paid privately because it’s so hard to access services on the NHS and that’s as an NHS GP.
Ideally we all would be educated from an early age on how to reduce our need for healthcare services by weaving certain behaviours into our lives. Some healthcare outcomes are unavoidable and those people should be properly supported
Real pathology must be managed effectively & has significantly increased post-COVID. The tsunami that was discussed last year has arrived, hence all the tweets from doctors online about workload. Practical people who don’t complain unnecessarily. Take heed @NHSEngland
