An innocent human being was murdered while just trying to make her life better. That's what all this is about.

It's about Ini Umoren.

The ability to always maintain such perspective is a very useful life skill. Not everybody can have it, unfortunately.
When Dr Ignaz Semmelweiss in the 1800s theorised that doctors should wash their hands to cut cross-infection, despite a successful trial of his idea, his colleagues ganged up on him and had him stripped of his license and locked in a psychiatric home where he was beaten to death.
It wasn't about the patients for them. It was about hierarchy and maintaining the status quo and not being outshone by an eccentric Young Turk whose idea led to a 99% drop in cross-infection at his maternity unit.

This behaviour is as old as humanity. It's not unique to us.
It is easy to understand why Nicholas Ibekwe and his contemporaries reacted so viscerally to my story - my existence is making them feel inadequate.

They have been around forever, then this guy shows up out of nowhere in 2019 and suddenly we can't hear word again.
In another 3-5 years time, some 23 year old whiz kid will emerge that will make me look pedestrian and only mildly intelligent in comparison. I might feel some professional jealousy too.

That's the circle of life. We disrupt others, and then we ourselves are disrupted.
Just like Nicholas et al also disrupted the existing Nigerian print media hierarchy at the time, only to find themselves acting like every establishment does just 10 years later.

I understand. I hold no grudges. Humans are what we are. We can't change.
But the point is amidst all this, we should always try to maintain perspective. The more important point was #JusticeForHinyUmoren, not "f**k David Hundeyin."

It was about her. Not you. Not me.

The doctors in Vienna had a similar perspective problem with disastrous results.
Instead of implementing Dr. Semmelweiss's handwashing idea which led to a 99% drop in incidence of deadly peripheral fever in maternity wards, they maintained the status quo for another 5 years after his death, condemning thousands of innocent pregnant Austrian women to die.
Almost 2 centuries later, it seems that Nigerian establishments are still where their Austrian counterparts were in 1865.

From the envious journalists ganging up on colleagues instead of doing their jobs, to the sources who get angry for not being a story's centre of attention.
I think it's a real shame, because while all this political bullshit is swirling around in my professional space, an innocent 26 year-old woman is lying in the ground, and every passing day reduces her chances of getting justice.

I'm not angry anymore.

I'm just disappointed.
*puerperal fever. Auto correct strikes again😞

Also, for future reference to Twitter's self appointed journalism gatekeepers who strangely have never achieved anything with their Press Release journalism: *A large part of investigation involves maintaining secrecy and the element of surprise.*

An amazing concept, I know.
If you're digging into a story like Hiny Umoren and you have several telephone numbers linked to the investigation, perhaps the worst thing you can do is CALL any of those numbers because YOU DON'T KNOW HOW THEY ARE LINKED TO EACH OTHER.

This is common sense.
For example I had a strong suspicion that Blessing Godwin was a potential victim of Frank Akpan, but *what if she wasn't?*

In that case, contacting her might have jeopardized not just the investigation, but potentially also Ini Umoren's chance at justice.

Little does the shameless rat know that the data representation he lifted from my story while calling me a "sensationalist" is one which I put together myself manually.

You've gone and published a screenshot from my Google Spreadsheet while patting yourself on the back. ImageImage
Ezigbote "journalist".

Extensively plagiarise my work and then have the temerity to come here and trash talk the same work that nobody at premium times or the whole of your family put together has the brains to create.

The idiot really published my Google Spreadsheet.
The audacity of a mediocre Nigerian man puts that of any white man to shame.

Lol some directors and shareholders of Nigerian Journalism and Sons Ltd same my story was cOnjEctUre.

By the end of this year, they'll be copying my writing style again like they all started doing last year after first accusing me of "injecting myself into the story."

Old man with 2 children came here in May 2020 and sewed one long thread talmbout "David Hundeyin could be so much better if not that he lacks objectivity because he inserts himself into the story."

By November, baba's Lekki Massacre investigation, na "I," "I" full am.😄😄😄

On April 29, Ini Umoren set out for a job interview in Uyo.

She never made it home.

In this exclusive for @NewsWireNGR I explore leaked data from the murder suspect's mobile service provider and prove that he did not work alone.

This 3,000-word investigative deep dive is based on several days worth of leaked call records showing Frank Akpan's links to a senior civil servant in the Federal Ministry of the Niger Delta, as well as directly working with the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to bungle the case.
Using cellular geolocation data, this investigation proves the existence of a high level organ trafficking ring in Akwa Ibom State which has backing from the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and a senior civil servant working for high level politicians at the Niger Delta Ministry.

Anyone who read Achebe's "Anthills On The Savnnah" will immediately recognise the strategy of being disingenuous by using the public's ignorance against them.

Instead of "the police killed Chris," the official statement said "Chris suffered a fatal incident in custody."
Knowing full well that the people did not understand the import of the term "fatal incident" and would conflate it with "serious accident."

Nigerian leaders and wannabe leaders have been pulling this stunt since the 1960s.

It's nothing new.
That's why Sheikh Gumi will defend Pantami by claiming he was "a young, inexperienced imam" when he pronounced the Fatwa that led to Sunday Achi's murder.

"A young, inexperienced" man who happened to be 32 years old and married with children.

But he knows the public won't know!

This does not really qualify to be called a comprehensive audit report. It's basically just a series of claims and statements with zero attempt to explain the issues raised such as the fraudulent claim that a BTC transaction initiated in March was initiated in November.
I'm not an accountant, but even I can clearly see that this report is hot, steaming bullshit.

I have no idea why SIAO would put their signature to this nonsense, but then again it's their brand and their business.

Anything goes in Nigeria, so whatever. E go be.
Maybe if I mention that the SIAO managing partner's son has a handle here called "FK's Media Officer" and said individual is a close friend of Milverton Road drinking club, that'll just be David David-ing.

Definitely not a conflict of interest or anything.

Whatever man.
