1962: A ray of Hope

When Janaki amma graced the prize distribution event in guduru Kalidasa kalaniketan, she advised Balu garu to try for singing chances in movies
That is when the 16 year old boy, started seeing a new hope in a career that he never dreamt of...

1964: Balu garu participated in a singing competition in Andhra club where he first met his guru Sri SP Kodandapani and the rest is history.

Thanks to his friend, Murali sir, who gave his name and paid entry fee on behalf of Balu garu.

1966: First Song
Balu garu recorded his first song on December 15th, 1966. Ever grateful to Kodandapani garu for identifying the singer in him and giving that first chance.

1968: First Success

First successful year in his career.

First single card album
Wide range of genres - folk, traditional, teasing, lullaby, love - all hit songs.

1969: New phase of life
Balu garu married his soul mate in simhachalam temple with the help of his friends. Savitri amma just not shared his life, but also shared his responsibilities and let him become the LEGEND he is... 🙏

1973: A big turning point

One song, ye divilo virisina, gave a big break in his career, brought him lot of accolades& fame. An SPB classic that's a constant in 90% of his concerts

1976: A forced Entry
Balu garu was forced into dubbing by Music Director chakravarthy garu who was dubbing for Kamal sir at that time. He gave his first voice over to the character 'Sastry' in Manmadha Leela.

1977: New Role

Balu garu scored music for the first time for a telugu film, Kanya Kumari. Since then, he scored for music & songs for 45 films in telugu, tamil, kannada and Hindi.

1979: Start of a Marathon

Balu garu received his first Nandi award for a 1978 film, Naalaga Endaro. It's kind of an awards marathon since then. Nandi, kalaimamani, kannada rajyotsav, filmfare, doctorates, national awards, civilian honors list goes on....

1980 : Respect & Recognition

Earned lot of respect, received lot more awards, including national award, Made every one proud,All with one film, Shankarabharanam

Once he said "Those who used to say 'Hi Balu' started saying 'Namaskaram Balu garu' after this film"

1981: Start-Camera-Action
From acting before the microphone to before the camera, introduced the actor in him to the audience through Pakkinti Ammayi. Since then poured life into many characters with different shades, including devotional, mythological & negative

1995: Yet another role

Balu garu became producer with 'Subhasankalpam' and introduced the actor K. Viswanath to us. It's the only direct film he produced. He dubbed many of Kamal sir's films into telugu under his banner, ' Sri Kodandapani Film Circuit'.

1996: Historic Chaptet

A historic chapter started in the name of "Padutha Theeyaga". We have seen generations of singers coming from that show, not just by improving their singing skills but also other aspects. It is very special in Balu garu's life.

1999: Dr. SPB

Balu garu received his first honorary doctorate for the first time from Potti sriramulu telugu university and later received from 4 other reputed universities.

2012: Acting Masterpiece
Balu garu acted in one of the finest movies in telugu cinema, Mithunam. This one is a masterpiece and the actors performance too.
He once said "If I write autobiography, it will be before mithunam and after mithunam".
