Can’t stop thinking about
The Underground Railroad.
People think its about “the Underground Railroad”, but I don’t think it is, except as metaphor for the eternal fight for justice, equality and LIFE for black people
And it is very much about us, the European white race...
It’s about the need to “subjugate” that seems to be built into our DNA.
Our need to WIN, CONTROL, be the most powerful, to oppress, to own, and to stop by any means necessary anyone who resists.
It is about the British, the Dutch the French and the Americans...
It is about America, but it is about colonialism everywhere. Europeans “conquering” “inferior people” (not that they are even considered people.
India, China, Indonesia, the Caribbean and the Americas.
To put their knee on the neck of those people and take whatever they want...
Not “their”...OUR.
We take the resources, the goods, the labor and the labor of those we conquer. We take their lives, their children, we dispose of them, brutalize, torture and enslave them.
And we will not let go, ever...
It’s not a show about history it is show about today. All of that is still with us.
It lives in the mines of Africa, the factories of Indonesia, and on the streets of Minneapolis and every other place in America.
The world is a dangerous place for people of color...
Because it is not safe for them. Because we are in it.
It is about “Manifest Destiny” and outer right to be the most powerful, dangerous beast on earth.
How many times have you heard the phrase “The United States is the greatest country in the world”?
When you watch the show, think about through a modern lens. Do not make the mistake of thinking about it as show about slavery, about history.
And force yourself to watch the brutality. It is essential.
Because its still happening.
And as you look for the cheapest price on whatever your next purchase is, and you buys a pair of shoes that costs 19.00 or a shirt that cost 6.00, a couch that casts 399.00...understand the history of those purchases and the subjugation they represent.
Look around you, and see how we have benefited from subjugation and colonialism.
To be clear it certainly includes slavery.
To be clearer do not only view it in a historical context. It is a continuum.

I sort of get the cult of Reagan. Sort of. He was an actor, so he was pretty skilled at conveying a message.
His message was so strong, it blocked out the reality of his destructive policies...
So I can understand the smoke and mirrors that people could hide behind...
...but Donald Trump??
A two bit hustler, a fraud, known for decades for his cons and grifts, his failures, his bankruptcies, his scandals. Crude, vulgar, ignorant, uneducated.
This is who the Republicans are forming a cult behind??
Really?
I am not talking about the average Republican or right winger on the street, I am talking about the Republican PARTY, the “GOP”.
People like Senator Kennedy who went to OXFORD, elitists, lawyers, wealthy, educated, people like Josh Hawley...
Say what you may.
But as a progressive I am just goddamned grateful to be delivered out of gaping maws of white supremacy, the carving up of the environment to the highest bidder, children in cages, isolationism, and the WORST of the WORST, in charge.
There is a TREMENDOUS amount of work ahead, and if we try to ignore what was happened and think it all can be vanquished with one vote we will be doomed to repeat this horror.
Your eyes are open, you can no longer be “shocked” to discover who we really are.
What are you willing to do?
Are you done?
Will you now become a participant, a protector of democracy? Now that you know the truth?
