Only a day to go now until the biggest sporting event of the summer, folks - the @TheRestHistory World Cup Of Gods!!!

Here, to whet your appetites, is a promo video, in which various sports pundits reveal which god they're backing for the Cup.

The qualifying rules: only those gods who at some point in the course of history ceased to be worshipped are permitted to compete.

(Obviously, this has served to rule out a number of big number contenders. But we're staying a sports tournament, not a war of religion.)
4 of the last 16 matches will be played tomorrow (Saturday, 22 May), 4 on Sunday (23 May).

Quarters, semis and the final to follow next week.

Kick-off on each day will be at 10.00.

Today, having already done tours of Roman, Anglo-Saxon & Medieval London, I am going to take the obvious next step. Yes, folks – it’s #TudorLondon!

The 16th century was a time of seismic change in the capital, fuelled above all the impact of the Reformation. Monasteries & abbeys across & beyond the capital were dissolved, sold off, converted or demolished. The fabric of London was profoundly transformed.
“Fair houses in London were plenteous, and very easy to be had at low and small rents, & by reason of the late dissolution of religious houses many houses in London stood vacant, & not any man desirous to take them.”

Tudor London was a good place to be investing in real estate.
