Moonriver is the Kusama Implementation of the Moonbeam. It is like a place to test & deploy new technologies to see if it is stable enough to be deployed on the Moonbeam parachain on Polkadot
2/ Earlier Launch, Earlier Access
Since Kusama will enable parachain functionality in the first half of 2021, the Moonriver network will be able to deploy as a parachain before Moonbeam deploys to Polkadot.
2-2/That means developers will have earlier access to Moonriver to start building, experimenting & launching, & other participants will be able to access DApps & assets on that chain.
Moonriver's features:
- Complete Ethereum Compatibility
- Blockchain runtime
- Unified Accounts
3/Complete Ethereum Compatibility
Features of Ethereum Network that Moonriver will have the same:
Because Moonriver provides developers a full EVM implementation, it will also have features that Ethereum Network has. Such as:
- Solidity-Based Smart Contracts
- Ecosystem Tools (e.g., block explorers, front-end development libraries, wallets)
- Development Tools (e.g.,Truffle, Remix, MetaMask)
ETH Tokens via Bridges (e.g.,token movement, state visibility, message passing). Moonbeam will also have a bridge that connects itself with ETH
4/ Blockchain runtime
The core Moonriver runtime specifies the state transition function and behavior of the Moonriver parachain. The Moonriver runtime is built using FRAME. It includes several standard pallets as well as several custom ones.
4-1/The runtime is compiled to a WebAssembly (Wasm) binary as well as a native binary. These compiled versions will be executed in the Polkadot Relay Chain and Moonriver node environments.
5/ Unified Accounts
With Unified Accounts, a user will only need a single H160 address, with its corresponding private key, to do everything including both EVM and Substrate functions. That means a user only needs to hold one private key that matches one address.
5-1/User does not need to move balances between 2 different accounts and is able to access all the features with a single account and private key. Moonbeam & Moonriver has standardized this single account to conform to the Ethereum-style H160 address and ECDSA key standards.
6-1/Moonbeam & Moonriver will have two different token for every single network. Glimmer (GLMR) will be a native token of Moonbeam and River (MOVR) will be a native token of Moonriver. On basic, both Glimmer and River will have the same utilities. moonbeam.network/networks/moonr…
6-2/The only difference between them is the network. Users will need $GLMR and $MOVR to perform these action on Moonbeam & Moonriver network:
Pay transaction fee to access and support network operations.
6-3/Incentivize collators & full nodes're charge of maintaining parachains. Support the gas metering of smart contract execution
Facilitate on-chain governance mechanisms by proposing referenda, voting, electing council members, etc
Power mechanics to create node infrastructure
7/ Who’s building on Moonbeam & Moonriver?
Right now, there are 36 projects that are building on Moonbeam & Moonriver with some big names like: @graphprotocol , @BalancerLabs , @oceanprotocol , @chainlink ,...
1/On May 19, @Kiltprotocol announced the launching of @social_kyc - a decentralised identity verification service.
With SocialKYC, users can manage, store & present their real-world credentials, as well as choose the elements of private information accessed by online services.
3/SocialKYC aims to verify user’s internet identity by providing control of their social accounts (@LinkedIn@Twitter@tiktok_us@discord@github ...), email address or phone number. Once the credential is issued, the user's personal data will not be stored, siloed or shared.
1/Shiden Network is a canary network that acts as an R&D chain of @Plasm_Network. PLM token holders can claim SDN tokens, the native token of Shiden at a 1:1 ratio. Shiden will act as a multi-chain Dapp layer on @kusamanetwork
1-2/Kusama Relaychain does not support smart contract functionality by design. This is where Shiden Network comes in. Shiden supports Ethereum Virtual Machine, WebAssembly, and Layer2 solutions from day one. The platform supports various applications like DeFi, NFTs and more.
2/ What Makes Shiden Unique?
Some core features of Shiden that make it unique:
- Multi Chain
- Basic Income for Developers
- Multi Virtual Machine
Also, Shiden Network will have all features that Plasm have such as:
- Operator Trading
- Lockdrop
- Modules
2/ SubDAO is a DAO infrastructure based on @Polkadot, where any decentralized organization is allowed to conveniently create and manage a DAO. SubDAO does not only connect DAO with DApps to realize DAO’s cross-chain management, but also bridges Web 2.0 and Web 3.0.
3/ Users can conduct DAO governance directly on traditional social media platforms. Developers can quickly integrate DAO governance capacities with their apps on blockchain, webpage, and mobile.
Karura aims to be the first project to lease a parachain through a crowdloan on the @kusamanetwork , and it is designed to function as a hub for decentralized finance on the blockchain, similar to Acala's role on @Polkadot
1-1/The Kusama network has a near-identical codebase to Polkadot, and Karura also bears many similarities with Acala. Both platforms are fast-paced, efficient, inexpensive to use and sufficiently secure for all kinds of financial applications.
2/ What Does Karura Offer?
Karura’s core Liquid Staking product allows users to lock up KSM tokens in exchange for L-KSM (Liquid KSM) as collateral and interest. This is similar to how DOT can be staked for LDOT on Acala.
1/One of the most significant developments of @Polkadot ecosystem was announced several days ago. Parachains crowdloan & auctions are expected to be on the verge of launching after @gavofyork post on Twitter.
$DOT $KSM
2/The whole community is longing to see major updates in the near future, which has made $KSM & $DOT ’s price hits new ATHs
Everything will start with the crowdloan & auction, & in order to launch, each project must first secure a parachain slot on Kusama by winning an auction
3/ While waiting for the next announcements, let’s take a look at our weekly issue to learn about remarkable projects planning to bid parachain auction as well as update some important news happening in Polkadot last week. 👇
