Donald Rumsfeld - Wikipedia

Rumsfeld recruited a young one-time staffer of his, Dick Cheney, to succeed him when Ford nominated him to be Secretary of Defense in 1975. When Ford lost the 1976 election, Rumsfeld returned to private business and financial life, and was named president and CEO of the
pharmaceutical corporation G. D. Searle & Company. He was later named CEO of General Instrument from 1990 to 1993 and chairman of Gilead Sciences from 1997 to 2001.

Donald Henry Rumsfeld was born on July 9, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Jeannette Kearsley (née Husted)
and George Donald Rumsfeld. While at Princeton he was friends with another future Secretary of Defense, Frank Carlucci.

Carlucci was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Roxann (née Bacon) and Frank Charles Carlucci, Jr., an insurance broker. His father was of Italian
and Swiss descent.[3] His grandfather was from Santomenna in Italy.[4] After graduating from Wyoming Seminary in 1948, Carlucci attended Princeton University, where he roomed with Donald Rumsfeld.
Donald Rumsfeld served as CEO, and then as president, of Searle between 1977 and 1985. During his tenure at Searle, Rumsfeld reduced the number of employees in the company by 60%. In 1985, he engineered the acquisition of Searle by Monsanto Corporation.
Robert B. Shapiro acted as general counsel for the firm from 1979 onwards, where he went on develop Searle's aspartame product under the brand name NutraSweet. He became CEO of its NutraSweet subsidiary in 1982.
Searle's chairman was William L. Searle until 1985. He was a
University of Michigan graduate and Naval reservist, and was an officer in the Army Corps in the early 1950s
Her alleged dalliances did not stop at the White House, as she also had relations with then-Congressman ‘Jerry’ Ford from Michigan, who went on to become president after Nixon resigned.  Ford’s relationship with Ms Rometsch allegedly took place during his time on the Warren
Commission where he was tasked with investigating President Kennedy’s assassination.  The affair was used against him by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover who was frustrated that the Warren Commission was not sharing their findings,  ‘So, (Hoover) had this tape where Jerry Ford was
having oral sex with Ellen Rometsch. You know, his wife had a serious drug problem back then… Hoover blackmailed… Ford to tell him what they were doing,’ Baker said.
