As expected, @VoteforDoris’ 48th Senate district picks up much of Springfield’s west side and drops GOP-trending Macoupin and Montgomery counties. Still probably a toss-up seat, but gives her a much better chance to win a full term. #twill
As for the House side, Rep. Sue Scherer’s Springfield-Decatur seat remains intact. But Rep. @AveryBourne’s is significantly altered and now appears to include @RepTimButler’s northend home.
It appears Macon County would pick up a fourth senator picking up southern portions of the county and a fourth House member would pick up portions of the western part of the county.
And who represents those seats might change too.
It appears Sen. Sally Turner’s 44th district would pick up portions of Macon County from @SenChapinRose.
The southern part of the county, currently split between Turner and Rose’s, would be picked up by a new senator, it appears.
Sangamon County would continue to have three senators and actually would go from having five House members to four.
Sen. Steve McClure’s home appears to be in the 54th Senate District, which picks up much of the former 48th in Macoupin/Montgomery and stretches to Effingham.
It’d be a big change has his current district stretches from the west side of Springfield to the Mississippi River.
Interesting Senate map in west-central Illinois. Dem Sen. Dave Koehler’s swingy Peoria-based seat would stretch east to pick up parks of Bloomington-Normal and, presumably more Democratic votes.
Sen. @jasonbarickman loses parts of Blo-No, but district otherwise appears similar.
Sen. Neil Anderson’s Quad Cities-based district would stretch south to include Galesburg and Macomb, which both lean Democratic.
Again, want to stress that these are preliminary observations. We will know more when district-level maps are released and hearings are held next week!
And please excuse the horrible grammar in this thread. What can I say? It’s Friday night! 🤷♂️

.@RepKellyCassidy and members of the House's Dobbs working group just spoke on the floor highlighting "a deeply concerning trend" of violence (and the political rhetoric that fuels the flames) against abortion providers and LGBT people. #twill
Cassidy mentions the arson at a Peoria Planned Parenthood Clinic earlier this year and the attempted burning of a Danville abortion clinic last weekend.
She also again brings up state Sen. Neil Anderson, a Quad Cities Republican who "threatened to kick the piss out of anyone he thought shouldn't be in a bathroom with his daughter..."
.@ElgieSims, SDems’ top budgeteer, has filed an amendment on the vehicle that’s expected to carry the budget. Language should be available momentarily. #twill
.@ILAttyGeneral's report on Catholic clergy sexual abuse brought me back to late 2018, when the Diocese of Springfield, at the AG's behest, started disclosing some names of accused clergy. One was Joseph Cernich, who hadn't been publicly accused before. sj-r.com/story/news/201…
I was shocked at the time to find that Cernich had been employed by Springfield's public utility since 2003, the same year he was defrocked. I flagged it for my editor and our city hall reporter @bycrystalthomas, who took it from there: sj-r.com/story/news/201…
Cernich was eventually fired. But the fact that he was hired and spent 15 years working for the city just underscored how many of these guys escaped accountability for their crimes.
House Democrats have posted a far more detailed Google map of the proposed district boundaries. Take a look here #twillgoogle.com/maps/d/u/1/vie…
After a decade with three senators repping Springfield, the capital city will largely be within one Senate district (shades of green). Rep. Sue Scherer’s House district (light green), which currently ends at Walnut Street, stretches out to Veterans Parkway on the west side.
The proposed 95th House district (dark green), includes much of Springfield’s south and west sides. It then swings up to the city’s north end, where it picks up GOP Rep. Tim Butler’s home.
After a year where many couples saw their celebrations fizzle, there's a new problem: a logjam of marriages put on hold, ready for weddings. @kwatznauer with the report: pantagraph.com/lifestyles/peo…
