Once again it appears that the people of Inishowen and Donegal have been let down. Your reported coverage of Saturday’s protest was minimal to say the least. Saturdays protest by MICA homeowners was single handedly the largest ever protest staged in Inishowen.
Conservative estimates put the crowd in attendance at 5,000 however drone pilots and others estimate the true figure to be circa 8-10 thousand. Not forgetting the crowd of approx 2000 at the Letterkenny March.
Could you please explain to the people of Inishowen and Donegal why you under reported the figures in attendance? Why did you fail to even report the protests on the evening news?
One of the core messages of this campaign is the failure of this government and previous governments to treat the people of a Inishowen and Donegal equally with the people in Dublin and North Leinster. Do RTÉ also view the people here as second class citizens?
**note it doesn't cost anything to register**
I spoke with someone from the council the other day and they asked me to stress the importance of families registering with the defective blocks scheme on the Dgl Co. Council website if you are a family affected by mica who own their
own home. They said currently the numbers are low (in the hundreds) and this is something they get asked and does not help their case when they meet with the Minister on the issue.
So, if you have not already done so and you plan to apply for the scheme sometime in the future

This is vitally important.

Dear People of Inishowen and beyond, please take time to read this and pass it on to everyone you know.
The Mica problem in Inishowen is greatly affecting our families and especially our children!
Anxiety and stress levels are very high among young and old. Everyone’s mental health and well-being are affected and this cannot go on. It is the main conversation among children in our primary schools. It is all that parents talk about at the school gates, at home and at work.
Children are asking their parents if their house is safe to live in. Our children should not have these worries. It is getting out of control and our government isn’t listening.
