Both suramin and Remdesivir bind to RdRp, and enzyme critical to viral RNA replication (not just SARS-CoV2). Suramin is much better at it.

The authors of the cshl.edu ALSO dropped a one line statement, which is not the focus of the research.

"The viral inhibition mechanism of suramin appears to be very diverse, including inhibition of viral attachment, entry, and release ..(Wiedemar et al., 2020)"

I could not find suramin's action re. spike protein, but I'm certain it's out there somewhere.

Also please note that Covid-19 is primarily a cardiovascular disease, therefore, not a kind of flu. The spike protein itself is the culprit.
