Partner, 33 + no comorbidities, took first dose of #Covishield on Monday. Developed mild fever, unbearable headache, body pain by night, which subsisted in spite of paracetamol. He then started complaining of abdominal pain, breathlessness, tingling in arms. @SerumInstIndia
By 4:30 am, he had puked at least 10 times. Puked twice even after he was given medicines to control nausea. After some difficulty breathing, family doctor asked us to immediately get him Avil (anti allergic) + Emerest (for nausea) injections.
Dear @MoHFW_INDIA, most of know that there are side effects but please PUBLISIZE and EDUCATE that something like this can happen too (for whatever reasons/allergies) so that people are prepared to deal with it.
In my desperation I even contacted the @SerumInstIndia helpline which was of no help. They don't provide medical assistance. I was told someone will get in touch but I'm yet to receive any call. It seems the helpline is only to report adverse reactions.
Lesson learnt the hard way: When going for #COVID19Vaccination, hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
Also, I read in @SerumInstIndia fact sheet that second dose is not recommended for those who had severe allergic reaction the first time.
He's doing much better now. No symptoms now (expect for slight headache and weakness).
Serum says critical evaluation has to be done by the physician.
They also sent a form that I need to download, fill, scan and send to @SerumInstIndia.
