So the Inland Empire could gain more districts while LA may lose out. bit.ly/2RBC9M9

Perhaps no other politician in recent history has so quickly elevated herself as such a provocateur as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (@mtgreenee).

Insider spent two wild weeks inside Greene's Georgia district as it flips a giant middle finger at DC.

businessinsider.com/mtg-marjorie-t…
Recently, Greene compared mask mandates in the House to the Holocaust. The statement drew condemnation from her own party.

Far from Capitol Hill, Greene portrayed herself as a victim who endures — rather than instigates — a pugilistic political culture.

businessinsider.com/mtg-marjorie-t…
In Feb, the House stripped Greene of her committee assignments over comments deemed racist and antisemitic.

But in her district, Greene enjoys support from those who like that she tells it like it is — but are less clear about what "it" is.

At 97, Lily Ebert (tiktok.com/@lilyebert) is one of the oldest Jewish creators on TikTok. She is also a survivor of the Auschwitz death camp.

Neither was enough to restrain the online mob looking for Jews to abuse since Israel's bombings of Gaza.

insider.com/antisemitism-j…
After posting an innocuous video wishing her followers a restful Shabbat (Sabbath) from her London home, she was flooded with "messages of hate."

"Happy Holocaust" and "Peace be upon Hitler" were some of the comments Ebert received.

The targeting of the Auschwitz survivor is not a one-off.

The Anti-Defamation League (@ADF) said that between May 7 and May 14, more than 17,000 tweets could be found that used variations of the phrase, "Hitler was right."

Nearly 200 times in 2021 alone, elected officials and their staffers have had to draft remarks memorializing the loss of some 15,000 lives to gun violence.

The people who must come up with these words are running out of things to say.

businessinsider.com/gun-violence-m…
In politics, the phrase “thoughts and prayers” dates back at least to President Harry Truman.

As an expression of public grief, specifically following a mass shooting, the phrase dates back at least 22 years to the Columbine shooting.

businessinsider.com/gun-violence-m…
Former President @BarackObama wasn't afraid to deploy the expression. "I'm sure I wrote it several times for him in his first term," said Cody Keenan, Obama’s speechwriter.

Obama also used it in his second term.

Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, known to the Jewish people as Temple Mount, is at the heart of escalating violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

This is why one of the world’s holiest religious sites is the most contentious place in Jerusalem.

Al-Aqsa Compound is in Jerusalem's Old City. Israel considers the entire city as its capital.

Palestinians consider East Jerusalem as the future capital of the independent state that they seek. The site is the third holiest place of worship for Muslims.

It is believed the Prophet Muhammad ascended into heaven from the site. But access is especially hard for the 3 million Palestinians who live in the occupied West Bank.
