A story about my character from the @CriticalRole#ESO rpg! Hoa Sen means "lotus flower" in Vietnamese. My mother's name is Hoa, and in my younger years I remember her telling neighbors her name was "Lily" because she felt bad they couldn't pronounce her name.1/4
My mom & I butt heads a lot, and there's also a 99.9% chance she still doesn't understand what I do for a living, but probably when she was a refugee coming to the US during the war she didn't imagine her kid becoming a professional RPG player & wearing elf ears on camera 😅 2/4
It's a little selfish, but I wanted to name my character after my mom so more people would know how to say her name & she wouldn't have to be embarrassed anymore. It's pronounced HWAA, once syllable, breathy at the front. Thanks to the cast & crew at CR for taking 3/4
the time to learn it correctly. It meant the world to me ❤️ I'll show my mom this twitter thread later & probably have a long conversation with her about what the hell Twitch is 😅 Thanks for listening to my story & for the warm welcome to the extended #Criticalrole family! 4/4

Hoa's elvin swag thread! Got some questions on my outfit for the @CriticalRole#eso show! The dress & harness I heavily altered after finding them at a film wardrobe resale store called It's a Wrap! The dress has gold, red & orange painted/dyed throughout w/a train I attached.. 1/2
..to a bangle. The shoulder cape I made from a folded metal mask & scrap fabric, then sewed to the leather harness as an anchor. Ears are from @aradanistudios & are painted to match my skin tone. They attach w/a wire headband & spirit gum! Hope that's helpful for y'all #Critters!
Extra content: having to use pliers to sew through the damn leather harness 🤣
