Frederick Stanton Elder was a graduate of Princeton and the 1st Math professor and head of the new University of Oklahoma Math Department at Norman, Oklahoma in a building that stands to this day.
"Frederick S.Elder was graduated from Princeton with honors in French, but at the University he would teach mathematics. which, notes Boyd, "explains not only his versatility, but his sound scholarship.He was the very highest type of scholar."
I am informed that 'Great GrandDaddy Elder' is referred to only as, 'the mysterious Mr. E', in one Helen Keller biography.
